Decided to start making some more weapons. Since there's a clear lack of WW2 weapons, here's one to start off.

I'm thinking of making a good few more, starting with an svt 40 and perhaps an m1 carbine.

Nice! But I don't know if the left hand would really be placed where it is, but I know nothing about guns.

Other than that it looks great!

I agre with PoK, it would seem that it'd be hard to grip a gun and prevent recoil if you held it like that, it looks like that could damage your wrist.....

Again, I've never fired or held a gun, because it's illegal. The gun itself looks good though, awesome work.....

When fired from the hip, the ppsh was almost exclusively held by the magazine. For more accurate firing, you would probably hold it slightly in front. This would only be practical for short bursts or single shots however, as the barrel would tend to get excessively hot. Besides, it's easier to remove the mag this way.

In the sten and the mp40 for example, the clip was specifically designed to be used as a grip. Generally you can hold a gun however you want as long as it's comfortable.

More info, the ppsh was completely revolutionary. Aside from it's simple construction, it also had a recoil compensator, which reduced kick-back and muzzle climb. Check these vids:

http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=ppsh+firing&search_type=&aq=f

Whilst you can't actually buy the drums anymore, it does show people holding it by the mag. You'll notice that it generates very little recoil if fired from the shoulder.

Pleas do, my e-mail is:

I advise you arrange your stuff into packs worth between about £4.99-£9.99 (about $7.99 to $17.99). It's easier to track everything that way.

PPSH looks great. What are you using to show your animations? On your site, I just see the missing content icon.

I used quicktime because everything else is 10mb for the same level of quality, as opposed to 2.5mb. It saves me bandwidth. Plus the control is better and it tends to buffer things more efficiently.

wow nice

i had actually just been thinking about making a PPSH the other day, but it seems i no longer need to

also how are you able to get the corners/edges of the mag and other bits of metal to look like the paint and stuff had been scratched off?

I usually get a scratched metal texture and ramp the contrast up, then set the blend mode to overlay or soft light. You can also try using 'find edges' then use a strong blur, and apply a filter like paint daubs to roughen it up slightly.

I plan to have a crack at the US weapons next yes. There's quite a few of em however, namely the M3 SMG, Garand, Carbine, BAR, and the Springfield SR. I felt like doing the Carbine first since it differs the most from existing US weapons, and it's a sweet little gun.

It's a big gun lol, I scaled it accurately and I was staggered that it's about twice the length of an M4.

You could always use GMax, one of the model packs has a DX exporter (an older version, but it should still work).

Yes, you can use gmax if you are never going to sell the model/game you made with it.

LOL owned. Anyone else get the deja vu of CoD:WaW? The PPSH looks ace, and the arms look good too. I recommend adding some dirt to the sleeves to make it more WW2-ish
