Hi to all DB/Pro users/teams

In about one week the next Sync On will take place in Germany.
Sync On you may ask? What's that? It's a DarkBasic user convention. This is the second
Sync On (and was the first DB convention ever )
We want to ask you if you've got anything DB/Pro related that we can present there. If
you've got a graphical demo or a game, maybe a nice demo of your game then don't hesitate
and contact me where to get your software. We want to show lots of cool games/demos made with
DB or DBPro.

The Sync On 2003 will be held on August the second in Bamberg/Germany (as last year). If you
need more information about the Sync On then just have a look at http://www.darkbasic.de/syncon/2003/
If you don't understand a single word then just ask me by email: [email protected]
And if you want to see some pics/demos from last year then have a look here: http://www.darkbasic.de/syncon/2002/

What we planned for this year:

- Workshops: Create music with SoundClub (the second workshop is not set yet)
- Show games/demos
- Do a quiz about DB/Pro
- Short interview with Lee Bamber (Yes Lee Bamber @ Bamberg again! )
- Nominate the winner of the Sync On contest (theme: create a unique animation with DB/Pro primitives only)
- some words from the new DBPro Publisher in Germany
- eat and drink a lot
- chillout with cola and beer ...

If you need more information just mail me: [email protected]
If you want to participate then you can also contact me and I'll give you information how to find us and where you can sleep (especially DB/Pro ers from the UK,France other countries around Germany)

I would be happy to show my latest alpha's but pretty much everything else is already in the public domain or license prevents it being there.

If you want to contribute the alphas then contact me and we can discuss how I can get the files. (If you upload them to your webspace or I'll create an ftp account where you can upload it)

Thanks for your interest in it

See http://www.realgametools.net/forums/index.php?board=29;action=display;threadid=16911 to see how to get a fully working (LAN or Direct Cable Connect) DarkBASIC tank combat program running on two linked computers at Sync On 2003.

You know one year i'm going to have to actually come to this
i'm still waiting for what happened to the UK one.

i mean its nice to know there's one in germany and one in the states, it just seems kinda wrong we don't have a UK one yet - i mean considering where DarkBASIC comes from.

look forward to hearing about how this years goes Hubdule
... i'll email you something on monday to show cause it would be nice to have something shown off.

have fun mate

Any chance of some further info in English please? Both of the links in the opening thread are to German sites (in German).
Also, is the event open to everyone or is it a closed shop?

Nine lives to choose from and I get stuck with this one!

hey Hubdule you'll have GeForce4ti and GeForceFX machines won't you?
it's just i've finally started a proper version of my Tyrannosaurus Rex demo, was wondering if i should remake with Software Shaders or if I can use the Hardware ones.

also have a little surprise TPF DLL that i'm sure you'll be happy to get your hands on, will send the DLL at around 8-ish cause i wanna have a sleep first.
should give you enough time to have a little tinker to produce your own demo with it - which i think would be good.
would've sent everything sooner but for some reason my new website made me totally loose track of time - and i've not exactly done alot, still annoyed the menu system doesn't sync properly.

well anyways lemme know what sorta systems will be there to show off the demos

System Specs @ Sync On:

AMD Athlon XP2600+
512MB DDR400
GeForce 4Ti4200 / 128MB

Win2K SP4 / DirectX 9b

DBPro 5 beta 2

most demos/games should run fine

oki no nv30 extensions thats cool now i know what i'm working towards.

You will needThis for the DLL later. Not a big download only 7-800kb, and your system probably already has it on there - but just to make sure

I'm hoping it'll compliment something else that will be released soon by another member of the community. Only been working on it for like 8hrs in total over the last 3days so i'm still trying to make sure there are no bugs or anything and the positioning comes out right.

wanna get a little demonstration together for your download, along with the help, which i've not even started yet.

"I would go if it was in England....."

They need to announce these things ahead of time, seriously...I mean I'm a little young, but in like three years when I could actually go myself I'd still have to ask off work etc. (Plus I took 3 years of German so I could survive there )

Darn, I won't be able to submit anything. Couldn't finish up all the main characters for my game. Well, I'll have to see what I can learn of the UK one(maybe I can go, or at least see if I can submit something.), and of course the U.S one.(good chance I'll be able to go to that convention.)

I had some problems with the animations on my characters, and they hadn't been fully textured.

Like I said, I'll just have to wait for the next convention.

:: waits for Raven too :: i can send you the current DLL mate - if you don't mind DBP crashing hehee.

i changed the initilisation from

ALCdevice *alDevice;
alCreateDevice( alDevice, NULL );

to

ALCcontext *alContext;
ALCdevice *alDevice;
alDevice = alcOpenDevice((ALubyte*)"DirectSound3D");
if(alDevice==NULL)
{
return FALSE;
}
// create the context
alContext=alcCreateContext(alDevice,NULL);
alcMakeContextCurrent(alContext); // set context active

and i get 5 external symbol errors...
when i switch it back for some reason doesn't work now... which is annoying to say the least.

been up all evening trying to figure out why too
