I need feedback on this new hud layout, and don't shun me for bad drawing, I done it in Paint as a rough layout of what my future game will look like! (Sorry to keep you waiting Avid, Hybrid and MeZoFoRtE)
Some pointers:
These are suggestions for Plystire
These are questions for Plystires Mod
Now heres the picture, in JPEG format.

Looks like the background for the EXP bar (and potentially the objectives bar) aren't transparent, which could cause problems when they are overlaying an area that isn't black/completely dark.

Other than that, I'd say good job. Especially on the objectives HUD. I may need to make a HUD myself for objectives. Gives me an idea. Hmmm.....

Yeah, but like I said, its a draft. I'll hold a competition to make these huds attractive, and transparent. Thanks for the feedback!

Money counter is already possible,

EXP bar, possible,

Health and armor, possible,

Objectives, possible,

Weapons and ammo, possible,

Minimap, not possible,

Yeah, minimap did seem a little too good to be true, but heck, 5/6 possibilities! I thought minimap could have worked if you had used the CAMERA command, but after talking it through with my friend, we realised it was impossible since its an FPS, and you dont control a rigged character, more a rigged camera.
Now all I need is a compo to make these huds better...

EDIT: By the circular green ring, that was supposed to be a gradient ring of ammo.

Looks good!!! I really like the layout you have.

Like coffegrunt already mentioned, it's all possible, except for the minimap. A radar would be a more likely option, though. When I get my computer back up and FPSC running again, I'll take a look into making decent radars as they ARE really good gameplay considerations.

I don't think the EXP bar would be a problem at all... though by the way you painted it, it appeared as though the blue portion was the current EXP and the white was the EXP left that the player needed to level up.

Also, be careful with using EXP and a Level Up system. If the player has no way of "farming" experience and can only gain experience off the set amount of enemies in a level, then there seems little point in there being a leveling system at all. Make sure they have the option to, at a bare minimum, revisit levels later on... perhaps have some hidden areas in levels that can only be accessed with tools that are gained later on in the game.

By resizing a single HUD and repositioning it accordingly, you could have a green ring represent ammo that literally shrinks as the current clip of ammo gets closer and closer to 0, whereupon reaching 0, you can just hide the HUD.

When the next release is done and you get this HUD setup made, email me a pic so I can see it, okay? I really like what you have going on.

i have an idea for minimaps,a camera thats shooting the whole level from top view,it deletes all enemies in the minimap and players gun is replaced by a dot on the minimap and we would have a working minimap

EDIT: this idea is copyrighted by me so coders that will code this wont get it as their own,why am i posting this in future beacause its totaly possible

Yeh, and it's not possible with scripting, and a real minimap would just be a 2D representation of the level.....

Cheers, Plystire!
cheers, djmaster?
Im not a good artist though, im going to hold a competition to see who can come up with a good hud layout like the one ive made, I'll hold different prizes for each hud part, and a grand prize for a script (No doubt Plystire will get it)

OFF TOPIC QUESTION: coffeegrunt, i noticed in a thread you mentioned DarkAI is Strafe10.fpi in disguise, could you expand on that?

the copyright idea was for the basic idea beacause people these days very quickly forget someone else had the idea first and they claim it and they become heroes

for the layout im gonna say like this: a map, this means pressing M opens up a new hud (map hud background) and the 3d layout in the middle like Far Cry 2

@djmaster:

That's pretty despicable of you.

Do you know who it was that first came up with the idea of using a button to do something on the computer instead of using switches?

....

I didn't think so.

An idea is nothing until it's brought to life. And with nothing in your hands, you have no claim to anything. This is why people with a GREAT idea don't tell anyone about it until they've at least already started doing it.

And I hate to say this, but your idea is:
1) Archaic and been used a thousand times before
2) Too simplistic to provide a decent effect
3) Unrealistic since you'd be asking the minimap camera to render the entire map in real-time... and in case you haven't been keeping up with FPSC, that's not going to happen without at least SOME lag.

It's very easily achieved, though the framerate would be awkward unless properly implemented. (AKA, how I implemented the camera system )

Yes, it does unless you are from another country and don't know English.

Oh my god, you are right. Im turning AMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMERICANNNNNN!!
Grammar, of course. I hold nothing against American people. Except from the bankers who put the world banking system into a collapse. Apart from that, theres nothing wrong. Honest!

I'll edit the post if anyone finds it offensive.

Grammar is not a requisite to communication.

I think it's pitiful that people feel the need to correct each other's grammar on a public board.
