I am making a space shooter type game and I need some help with scrolling the background so that the player has some idea which direction he is traveling in. I was thinking of inversing a sphere and texturing it so that it would look realistic but have no idea how to do it. But if theres another way please tell me.

scroll backdrop is in pro you have to use uv texture coordinates

You know whats weird???

The direct answer to your question would be:

scale object sphereObjectNumber,-100,-100,-100

This may not be the best/most efficient technique, depending upon what you are trying to achieve.

make a sky sphere. Texture it with your sky teksture. Then do this:
scroll object teksture objectnumber,0,0.05

I made same kind of a game, but it the camera was in top of the ship and ship cound't go nowhere but forward. I used plain and tekstured it. Then I scrolled the texture. But this should work in sky pshere too, but If you are doing same amking same kind of a game than a did then you should use plain that just follows the object position.

hmmm....is this 3D or 2D? if its 2D, just make a tile-able background and just have the images repeat by subtracting from Y coordinate as the user moves

Yeah, I know, I only have one game. Yeah, I know it sucks. But I made it! Me!
