Hold the entity you wish to place upon a table or another object and press enter to have the object automatically position itself to the Y axis to be placed atop of the object. You can also do this by using the 'Page Up' and 'Page Down' buttons in order to move the object up and down. If you prefer to do it manually rather than by pressing enter, right-click on the entity after placing it to get a close-up view which will enable you to place it easier.
