He'll probably never come back...people don't seem to get that programmers can't stand when people come in from no where and use title's that they feel are very official - like "Crow Interactive Group", to name one...

He emailed me and I downloaded the AVI (44 megs) and watched it and quite frankly it's fecking awesome. It's a very dark, very moody Diablo clone written in DBPro. The graphics are nice, it looks really good, nice baddies, nice spells. Have emailed asking him for a playable version. It'll make the newsletter cover and feature story once released, looks bloody great.

So to the rest of you here - of yee's of little faith, hah!

Cheers,

Rich

Aye it is graphically very pretty, I think we've seen the odd preview picture of this over the last few years - written in DBC if I am not mistaken?

Anyway in terms of the game it looks exceptionally good. On the surface it does appear that this will be the best DB game yet. However video composition is clearly not your teams strong point It's a little long and has no impact or drama until the word Armageddon appears. I actually got bored watching it, but I should have been left amazed because the game looks so good.

Where you have tried to show off special effects the encoding has destroyed the visual impact. A shorter film would allow higher quality which would demonstrate the graphics better, and a little story boarding to pick the pace up a bit would be a good idea.

If I was making the film I would: Kill 3 monsters, not 30. Hide the mouse - it moves a lot and re-focuses the eye. Shorten the film and raise the encoding quality. Keep a narrative going throughout. Speed the pace of viewing up.

In closing I would like to say: Amazing looking game !

Often the best DB games are written by people who never post anything to the forums except for maybe a week before they release the game and then on release.

I've seen this game develop for a while now (various screen shots on their site). It's a DBPro title now (might have been DBC when it started out though). The AVI at least demonstrates how far the game has come, I just hope we can have a playable version soon.

"However video composition is clearly not your teams strong point"

heh.. kinda got to agree there, but even so it's unique for something like this to even appear so I'm not going to knock it too hard for a little lack of Premier skills

Cheers,

Rich

I can't play the vid - I've tried all the players I have, the video gets as far as the word Armageggon scrolling across the screen 12 seconds it then the video stops, but the sound keeps on playing. Weird.

What Codec do I need?

Thanks

I had DivX 5.0, after updating to the latest version it worked.

Very impressive I must say - my only complaint is that the video didn't show anything except the exploring and fighting. No views of any stats dialog or explanation of the storyline.

would you honestly understand them if they were showing you and explaining in russian?

i hope they ask someone to actually translate the game for them properly ... cause we don't want a poor translation, recently had Oyaaaa on my man trying to tell me how my signature SHOULD read - although it reads perfectly what it should.
he doesn't really grasp the translations between english & his language - which is a shame, it makes it infurating to have a converstation with him because he insists on using english even though he doesn't actually understand it.

personally wish we had a better envoy between us and the company though, because all of their information is a hit'n'run style ... they drop off something new and you don't see them for like 6months.
No questions, no nothing.

You could at least get an idea of the interface though. The storyline could be explained via FMV perhaps (I don't know how much video is used in the game though).

Still - great work CrowTeam - I look forward to the full game.

Couldn't download the video (Bandwidth limit) so I searched the site and came across about 8 screenshots. It looks good but I'm getting the impression of a major Diablo II ripoff, I don't doubt it will be a good game but originality is needed and now that I think of it, DII got boring after Act II anyway. Hopefully I'm mistaken and this will have some variety.

Yeah, I'm on 56k so can't play with the AVI either, hope the guys don't mind if I post a screen shot here, for those with better things to do than stumble around Russian websites (the Russian forum is really bad! - liberate them with something decent Rich ).

Here's a link to the other pics:

It has to be said that the graphics quality is amazing, looking forward to seeing more of this.

Yeah, the only way I could navigate was to look at the name of the page the URL's linked to in the status bar. Inteterestingly the page names are in English so this was fairly easy lol.

Looks better than Diablo 2 graphic wise. My only concern is that everything else seems like it was ripped straight out of Diablo. Oh god I just hope they add something original to make up for the glaring cliche factor.

PS - I also had a small issue with the hud. Whats with demon guy sitting on the toilet? looks like hes reading a newspaper...

Is there a possibility to get a demo to show it @ Sync On 03 ? If so, would it be possible to get it before Friday night ? Tried to mail you directly but it seems that your mail addresses don't exist ?
Hope to hear from you soon.

Thanks in advance

Congratulation, it's really a impressive video ^^

What a pity they are Russian (furthermore, for a French like me), it'll be difficult to comminucate with this talentuous people.
How do you think they create their area, with bsp (it must be difficult to obtain such a result) or do you think they load some objects in .x or .3ds and place them with the code?

What a beautiful job!

yeah english is ... provided you have someone who has enough knowlage of it to structure it in a comprehendable fashion

there don't appear to be alot of people willing to learn the syntax of the english language in order to actually communicate.
however you seem to have a better grasp of it so should be oki.

i've never played diablo/diablo2 for more than a few minutes before i got sick of it and put in something better - but even to me it seems very very close in structure and gameplay.
hope that you do have something to make it stand out from the original.

for DidRocks, i doubt they used BSP - i have a feeling that it is either full2d or (and i think this is more likely) that they have a 3D environment made out of primatives with a premade UV Mapping routine to allow it to appear from a single angle.
having it isometric with a fixxed view makes it very simple to combine 2D & 3D in such a fashion ... Resident Evil for example does this to a good effect.

oki igoRR and thanks by advance ^^
I have some question besides your video is very impressive.
Indeed, i'm on a project of a final fantasy-like rpg. The fights' environnement and the world's map are made in bsp. That still remain are maps of the town. I don't know if you know this type of game (ff7-8-9), but the view is very similar to your's. To obtain such a result, i have totally no idea. That's the reason why it would be kind of you if you could give me some clue to begin (the procedure, if you use some plains, objects, collision system...). If you have the time to do this, can you e-mail me at [email protected] or at this post?
Thanks a lot and, one more time, congratulation!
