Hi there.

I'm trying to make an entity (it's a spaceship) travel along a waypoint over an emtpy space. I've done my research and know how it's done. I've created an invisible floor segment to get past the the empty space problem, however whenever I test the scene the entity isn't there.

After changing each property one at a time I finally got it working. I then had to move the starting room due to lack of space. I copied and pasted the room and when I tested, the ship was gone again.

Here are the properties

I think it needs to be a character to work like that. I've had no success with this sort of thing with anything other than the scifi platform.....

It doesn't need to be a character. I've managed to get it working fine, it's just deciding not to show up :S

If it appears with no gravity, do you think maybe it hit a physics nudge and got bounced out of sight?

Have you tried letting it appear default and make it float by adding float to the main fpi?

Come to where the madness is:

Nothing is working sadly... I've tried all sorts. I can get ONE working, but when I do it follows the waypoint facing the wrong way. I know this is a common problem but i'm not too sure how to fix it.

Butt Monkey,

Have you actually tried making it a character entity and giving it a .fpi script to that effect? I'm aware that you said it doesn't have to be a character entity, but you did not say that you have tried it as one. If not, try it and see what happens.

Tom

Any help would be appreciated. Here are some pics.

The entity which will not appear. Sitting in an invisible segment so that it will follow the waypoint.

If an entity is facing the wrong way in FPSC and you can not correct that any other way within FPSC or the entities code (script(s)) then you could try rotating the entity model in a model editor before exporting back to FPSC format.

Make sure you back up your original entity model first.

That may not be your problem and may not correct the rotation inside FPSC but may be worth trying if all else fails.

Hi Uman

Would that make a difference? Because when the entity is static/dynamic its rotation is correct in FPSC. It just decides it wants to travel at the wrong angle when I ask it to follow a waypoint.

You will need to rotate it in a modelling program. I'm having the same trouble with an entity. An entity will only follow a waypoint a certain way and no amount of rotating it in the editor or changing the fpe will rotate it properly along said waypoint. If anyone does find way inside FPSC that would be great!
