Has anyone installed this thing on a 64 bit Vista setup?
I get an error as its attempting to write the the DLL's into Windows/System even though I am running as admin and have turned UAC off

consequently nothing works from that point on

Well
I somehow managed to get the install to run just finally and now have the thing installed under Vista 64. I was however unable to run the demo's included with the installation without recompiling them, changing the processor target from ANY CPU to X86 on each of the sub-projects. Then the demos do run from within the development environment. (VS 2008 on my machine)

Now when I quit each instance of a program running within the development environment I get

Program X Stopped working
Check Online
Close the Program
Debug The Program

The error details look something like
Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
Application Name: ShadersCSharp.exe
Application Version: 1.0.0.0
Application Timestamp: 491c782c
Fault Module Name: nvd3dum.dll
Fault Module Version: 7.15.11.6751
Fault Module Timestamp: 475f12dd
Exception Code: c0000005
Exception Offset: 001d188a
OS Version: 6.0.6001.2.1.0.256.1
Locale ID: 1033
Additional Information 1: fd00
Additional Information 2: ea6f5fe8924aaa756324d57f87834160
Additional Information 3: fd00
Additional Information 4: ea6f5fe8924aaa756324d57f87834160

The fault information appears to be a little different depending on what is running but the fault module name appears to be something in the Nvidia drivers set. Does anyone else have something like this happening to them or is it just the typical crappy Nividia drivers excuse....

lwatson, Sorry for not replying sooner.

The new version, when released, should be ok with Vista 64 as I've rebuilt all of the samples to use x86, so hopefully this will allow the samples to run.

I can't say if it's a driver issue, but you could try changing the build configuration for one or more of the projects and see if this helps.

Paul.

Not a problem...

I will try the software on a Virtual machine that supports DX 9 and see if I get the same exception on exiting. That will rule out an Nvidia issue as the VM will be using a VMWARE Svga driver. I'll let you know what happens

As you can see in the attachment image
DARKGDK.net runs just fine in the virtual machine
and when I exit the apps no exceptions so its just a crappy
Nvidia Driver issue...

Gee there is a surprise......
