Well, did everyone have a good halloween?

I went to derry, as a sexy devil!
short red shirt, fishnet stockings, red horns...
I even curled my red hair!
I've never had so attention in my life!
The costumes in Derry were amazing.
Over 30,000 people in fancy dress!!!!

Yes, a picture would be very nice...

Anyway, my halloween was spent uninstalling Fifa 2001 & 2002, The Sims (because they all crash), and either today or tomorrow I will probably be re-installing them...

Fun, eh ?

Yes, I really am THAT good...

...well i'm not sure what exactly happened most of the nite - but i remember my car was involved in an accident, or someone had an accident in my car, don't ask i woke up at work and my car wasn't there... so it took me a while to get home.

i know i was on the net a little bit right after i shit all these kids up by jumping out of the bushes... why i was in them, not sure about either

oh well i'm sure more will become clear, espeically why my TV and Mircowave have switched places - well atleast the house looks remarkably tidy ...
most of us from work and my roommate haven't a clue to what has gone on - so if anyone was in the West Hollywood area, and saw about 10 people squished into a porsche boxter - lemme know what i was actually doin' please.
non of us were wearing costumes, atleast i don't think we were ... i didn't leave in one atleast

Indi, you're a moderator. A mod deleted my post once, which was vaguely flame-ish to someone. Why don't I get that sort of protection against the rude ChipOne?

You'll all be please to know I've got Fifa 2001 & 2002 up and running. I dont know why they crashes on loading - I presume Norton Systemworks deleted some registry entries (which is one reason why the registry should never be used).

Now, I need to get The Sims up and running.

Keep them running all the time - don't have any problems except when upgrading my Nvidia drivers (takes longer to install than with the AV off).

your'e suppost to take off anything in the backgorund when installing new drivers. It can cause serious fatal errors with windows. The errors can be caused if you do similar things when updating IE or putting a service pack on. Near enough everything else should be fine though.

Can't say I'be ever had serious fatal errors when upgrading drivers with an AV active - it just takes a really long time with Nvidia for some reason, with AV active.

You should take almost everything off. I wouldn't dare be caught out with zone alarm for example.

Zone Alarm can be a pain at times.. You shouldn't have to de-activate anything just to get something running.

your suppose to turn anti-virus software off when installing nVidia updates, as they alter core code and oftenly the virus checkers think they're viruses and delete what is being written without asking - especially later nortons ...
Also wouldn't use Zone Alarm - completely useless product, i can even hack around it and i'm not exactly a wizz with winsockets and data ports

also a good tip is to make sure all of your Anti-Virus, Firewall, System Tools are of the same make, e.g. Symtac or Solomn as the incompatibilities lead to false feedback.
e.g. Norton Internet Security will believe that PC Cillin is trying to hack your system when updating and block access

have a tonne of good examples like that

It'll probably end up as 40.83 when its been through the WHQL. It least someones seen a speed increase - otherwise I would have though they were telling porkies...

well think about it... the last major update was suppose to increase speed 33%, over the original drivers there is A speed increase - but compaired to what DirectX 8.1 and OpenGL 1.4 give, not even close to 33% on low end cards.

However on my Quattro i've seen my framerates in games like Jedi Knight 2 full visual @ 1024x768x32
go from 60fps (base drivers) to 100fps (28.42) to the current 152fps (42.83 beta)
... on a native 64-bit environment for WinXP, well you can close to double those figures

I got higher benchmark results in 3dmark when I updated from the bundled drivers, don't know if it was as much as 25% though. That was 40.72 on a geforce 4 4200.
