They look quite nice! Just two little things:

To save polygons, the door on the outhouse could probably be just done on the texture. If anything, it should be set back into the outhouse, not sticking out. Also, those boards on top of the desk look like they should have fallen over a long time ago .

Thanks guys

@Game Maker- Yeah i did that when i woke up one morning just to get the juices flowing but as you can tell, the texture makes the model look way better like the shack in my opinion the model looked quit messy but when i uvmapped and textures it it came out pretty nice, i still need to align some of the inside faces but ya.

@CG- i't will be available at MR as well as personal paypal, and im thinking about adding them as single items at the game creator store seeing as how Lee sent me the contract i might as well do it as an investment for the future.

@bmaczero- Thank you the outhouse is under major work we fixed the model so you can now enter it so it looks virtually different.

Ok, now for some harsh realities.
Stop trying to sell everything you make...
And also its a bunch of primatives, as looking at the jail cell, its about 4 cuboids stretched to fit a outline, then its about 2 cylinders placed for the bars and a couple more boxes to make the door also the sphere for the handle isn't fooling anyone.lol Obviously a joke as you lot over at MR think I'm a short-tempered person.

But my main concern is...
STOP TRYING TO SELL MODELS!
I know you want that extra dosh in your pockets, but answer me this..
Why do you want to sell everything you touch?

Correct, but it gets the job done so thats all i care about

Ok, this is really annoying because i dont plan to make money first off anyone who thinks they can make good money out of selling to an FPSC community is just out of there mind or just are selling there stuff for fun. i mean look at the mass amount of models and quality Bond releases he dosent make all the money he deserves. Its not about money its about the time i put into things id gladly give away stuff. Its just dude think to yourself would you make a pack of 30 or so models a gun a character some backdrops buttons ect......and give it away for FREE and dont lie cuz you know it would be a great donation but all the time you put into it you would want something back. So i have no problem giving stuff out. Infact im going to go give out some stuff within the next hour so go check the models and media thread soon.
Plus im going to be a store seller soon i need to have something to give them.

Texturing a bunch of primitive shapes with photos isn't really "modeling". Learn to walk before you run.

To be honest, if it's not worth your while selling, because you say you get hardly any buys, then why sell? Surely it's better to give something to the community, and it gives a feeling of pride to see your stuff in a game, at least, for me it does....

I have to agree with Deathead on that. It may get the job done, but you cant alweays have the attitude of "Okay i just want to get this done, and i'll do the quickest way out." So what if it takes long? It will be worth it in the end.

Whatever its my technique i move on from thing to thing so this only takes up as much time as i let it before i get tired of it. Plus what i dont get is this okay who says there is a wrong way to model is there a method to game design? Do you have to follow the rules in your creativity?...No you dont. Is there a proper way to think of your plot or story no. And seeing as how game design is drivin by creativity it dosent matter so i can be as creative as a want and use whatever method i feel like using.

Um.. Punk you do realise that for Game Design there is a certain method to do things right? And also modelling is the same, but tbh your method isn't really modelling its sticking stuff together.. Its like a flatpack from Ikea, you put it together you don't make it, but if you have to time to model out objects which also equals more possiblities to detail.

Punk your method of sticking primitives together and then texturing them with photographs won't do you any good if you want to move forward in this industry. Although if you don't want to do that I can't say anything against you. It was just my understanding that individuals would want to improve.

I'm not saying that i dont want to improve but right now as i moving from different interests like, modeling, scripting and all i can only do so much before it gets tiresome. Plus to be honest i only learned to model simple stuff for fun cuz i really dont like modeling i love texturing and art and that stuff but modeling isnt really my deal i have a plan for the future but i dont think it involves being a 3D artist but in a different department of Game Design right now im just dabbing along to find what best suits me.

Trust me, it's better to look at a model and say "Wow, I made that by extruding a cube!"

Texturing's my main area of fail, I only have GIMP, so I can't do it from scratch. I often modify stuff from CGTextures, add grunge, put some detail, then package and release.....

I'm not gonna even attempt to sell anything I make, until I feel that I'm good enough at it....

lol i did that onece by analaying 10 fairy tales and finding the key functions/actions that decide the outcome of the story,

quite intresting that someone else has done that, although his was slighty more through although mine had a geometric gain, as i read the stories for a 5th time i found more actions, and inroduced boundaries, reactions and constarints to the character

think of it as fable II for those who have the attention span of a peanut, your actions utimitly lead to a preordaned route that has been laid out for you, you cannot beat it, stray from the path, r create a new outcome...

hope that explains it

I couldn't be bothered to read all the flamage, but you can't sell these, because the speaker texture is from cgtextures. Actually so are the Xrays. And although I can't tell from your shots I assume the metal is too.

I agree that there isn't a propper way to do things, as long as your end result is stylised the way you Originally intended, and the gameplay is there, who cares how you got there?

What I will say, is that there is a PROPPER way to give credit for work that isn't yours, so when someone says:

"Hey I love the texturing"

You should tell them that they aren't your's and where you got them.

Well
!) the credits are in the Readme second off it was practice i should of posted it was just practiced, plus i didnt save the uvs right so it dosent exist anymore anyway.

Oh and FYI Butters i can sell models with CG textures if i like. You need to look at there agreement better man.

FROM CG TEXTURES AGREEMENT

Quote: "
You are even allowed to bundle the textures with your 3D model or scene and sell it as a package."

Plus i heavily edit anything i get for free i dont liek using others work all of the time.

Quote: "I agree that there isn't a propper way to do things, as long as your end result is stylised the way you Originally intended, and the gameplay is there, who cares how you got there?"

Thank you Butters, ya its not the "proper" way or the right way. But if you guys met me in real life you would see i dont follow any lines and dont usually do what others do. Not that im trying to be a rebel.

After reading through this thread, I think a few things have been misread.

First off, when Butters said that you should give credit, he means to tell us where you got the textures from. That's fine and dandy that CGTextures.com's agreement allows you to sell what you make if it includes their textures, but that's not the point here. The point is that we know that you didn't make the textures from scratch.

Second, it doesn't look like you "heavily edit"-ed any of those textures. Maybe a few minor things, but nothing big. The art of texturing is a long, painful trial. It takes years of practice to get it down. A way to practice is to take a box primitive and try to make it look great by making a texture.

Third, I agree with Butters. There is no "proper" way to model or texture things... but there is a set of guidelines that you should set for yourself. Some ideas: Remove unnecessary polygons, Keep things in scale, Keep the topology as clean as possible, and Add or remove detail where needed.

If you set some rules for yourself, you'll advance and learn faster than if you just throw primitives together.

Lastly, take criticism with thanks, then apply that knowledge to your model. Don't ignore what others have to say.

That's my two cents.

This stuff is pretty basic, textures would be better off hand painted. There are right ways to texture, meaning more than one, obviously he chose a different way to somewhat what i would do. But at least hes trying. There's nothing wrong with photographic textures, just the fact that hes selling them is totally wrong. I would recommend trying to actually extrude instead of using primitive shapes and hand painting the textures always turns out better than a photograph. (for me that is)
