I am making a game and I don't know what I should use for the credits. I don't want to steal doom 3's music even though it is cool. I want to make my own with some music making software that is free! And I want to make something similar to doom 3's music.

I love the FPSC! But it goes slow on my stupid computer!

It depends on what you are after. A (general) midi sequence maker or a sample tracker?
(There are other kinds too, but I think those two genres are what you have to choose from for the humble price of nothing).

You could try out Anvil Studio or ModPlug Tracker, or perhaps the DarkBasic creation QMidi.

Dumb programs are programs too!

Be prepared to spend more than 0 cash if you want a clever sample tracker though.

I wouldn't say they're that bad. Like any software, it takes a while to get used to.
If you search this forum for "Cosmic Dream", "Some old battle theme" and "Glory", you will find three on the whole decent tracks that I created with ModPlug a few years ago.

But you don't sound too serious though, so maybe this isn't your thing...

audacity is a decent free recording program. You have to record your own instruments on it though.

I used to use this for a while, but I gave up due to its unreliability. It would often crash after I stop recording something.

You will need to either make a free music loop pack for others to download or pay 10$ to get a registration key.

You could get Ableton Live, although its $700 for the full version. Or you can get the lite version for only $139. The lite version is not as downgraded as it might seem from the full suite. It is an awesome program, I have been using it for years =D

You have got to check out their "Session Drums"
