I'm not a modeler (although I will be starting to pick this up soon), but even I can tell you that starting with something as difficult as a weapon is not the way to go. Start off slowly - make smaller, less complicated objects. This will teach you the basics of model making. Once you get that down, then go for bigger and bigger fish.

well you need to know how to animate your model, which includes knowing how to model, which i seriously doubt you can as that isnt your model

I *think* he bought the gun and wants to make it fpsc ready-which means he has to remap a given gun animation* to his new mesh or learn how to make his own custom animations. Then he has to learn how to edit the according scripts that guide the guns behaviour in FPSC.

*There is a thread on how to do this currently running. search for xm 8 for a joined community effort by Conjured Entertainment and myself to make a weapon model work in FPSC

I am Jacks complete lack of surprise.

It is a really nice gun though.

Check my sig.

However, Fillo, it looks like you'll need to do a lot of other work (poly count, animating), outside of the scope of this tool.

Best of luck!

There is a link to a tutorial (not made by me) on how to create a gun in 3DS Max, in our last Newsletter; it should be comparable to making one in Milkshape.

Here's the link:

http://www.blackdracogames.com/newsletters/newsletter1.html

Otherwise I suggest you search for a tutorial specific to Milkshape yourself. You could also try http://www.psionic3d.co.uk for tutorials in Milkshape. They may not be specific to making a gun, but you should be able to apply the basic modeling techniques.

Asking someone to show you step by step is too time consuming, as modeling/texturing/animating are much more difficult than you think.

Why would anyone delete an e-mail which contains a download to their product they purchased? It looks like Peter gee wants to get WC for free...

Ah, I see. Lots of things are "under construction" on the main site. One of these days I'll start updating it on a regular basis. To see what's new at BDG, you'd be better off going to the Forums (with a new front page, I might add):

http://www.blackdracogames.com/forums/index.php

Contests will be coming as described there. I've got to renew my hosting again pretty soon (pay for it annually, around $100....though I never use anywhere close to the space on the server that I pay for). I'm also sorry for hijacking.

@Fillo:

Like they said earlier, guns are a very difficult thing to start with. You want to start with a REALLY simple model and then work up. Try a sword or a knife first, then possibly an axe. After that you may be able to start on basic pistols.

Why do people think that? I started with a gun, and I turned out alright.

I am not that great of a modeler, and I can make basic pistols.. Sure, not to detailed, but I am thinking of ways to do so, and practicing. Also, I find them rather fun to make. =D

As I said, I am not that great of a modeler. What I would advise, it make a simple model first. Like a sword or something. That will allow you to learn the standard features of 3D modelers, and some of your modeler's features. After you make a simple model first, then try a gun. Use what you learned, and experiment. Do things differently, and see if it is better than what you used to do. It all depends on how you do it. Google up some beginner's 3D modeling tutorials, there are tons of them. You could also study other people's 3D models, see how they did it, and try to duplicate.

Seriously? What do you mean "what do you do next" ? Maybe put some effort into asking the question properly in the first place, and you'll get some decent replies.

What is it you want to do;

Do you want to learn how to create a 3D model of a pistol using Milkshape? If so, you've already done that. Making better looking weapons is simply up to how much practice you put in to using Milkshape, and the techniques you learn to help make modeling easier. Techniques are found in tutorials, which you seem to be giving up on.

Or do you want to learn how to use a 3D weapon in a game? Well this is completely different. For starters are you programming the game, or do you want to put it into an already made game as a mod? Or, are you using FPSC and want to make it FPSC-Ready? If you are programming the game, are you using DBP or some other language? In any of the above cases, you'll need to animate the weapon being fired, reloaded, etc. This too can be learnt through tutorials that you read. However you shouldn't look into animating until you can create better models than the one you have there.

What you're asking for is someone to put down a step-by-step written document telling you how to make a pistol from start to finish. Thats a tutorial. At the same time, you're saying you dont want tutorials.

So, figure out what it is you want first. Then explain it to us in detail, and dont be lazy with your spelling, it just shows your lack of interest to learn and will cause others to not bother reading your post. Then when you've gotten that all sorted out, post it, and you might get some help.

My sister's boss has thier phone number.

On-topic: That is a pretty good pistol you got there, all I can say is just model more. There is nothing better you can do to get better at something then to just do it more.

Can we get a wireframe?
