Well, welcom to the forums,

For a FPS game i would recomend FPScreator, its easy to use, theres basicly an unlimited amount of free media here on the forums, there are so many tortorials and so much help here, its really a cake walk when going to make a game. The only downside to FPSc is that its a bit buggy at some times. But if your computer meets the requierments then you souldn't have any problems.

then there is even an dx10 version but you will need Windows Vista and a DX10 video card.

compatibel video card list:

that should give you a good start on things, but im not sure what to use for a sports game, maybe Darkbasic pro?
but anyway hope this info helps and points you to a good game makeing experiance. Remember have fun!!

FPSC isn't just the right product to start with, it's the right product to stay with.

If you want to develop an online FPS using the best game development software available right now then just go ahead and buy.

but you don't make games(you start them)

just kidding, but I had to do that.

Anyway, you can get fpsc for free from trialpay, there's a tutorial on youtube(search fpsc free trialpay or whatever) so I'd go with that.

fpsc is good for beginners.

Couldn't resist, eh?

Anyways, the two years I've used FPSC, I never thought to use anything else. It is a good hobby, and I recommend it to people looking for something to do if they love FPS's (like me); it is buggy and has it's problems, but it's worth $50.

93/100 for FPSC X9.
