DarkBASIC Professional Discussion / Cannot install Dark Basic Professional

I just received my copy of Dark Basic Professional and tried to install it on my computer (running Windows 98 SE). First, I uninstalled the Dark Basic Pro Demo and then inserted the CD. The menu screen appeared and I selected "Install Dark Basic Professional" from the menu. The Dark Basic Pro splash screen appeared momentarily, disappeared, and then nothing. I tried to run the setup.exe program directly from the CD and got the same thing, the splash screen flashed on and then nothing. I tried the CD in both my CD-ROM drive and my CD/DVD-ROM drive and got the same thing. I even tried copying the contents of the CD to my hard drive and running it from there. Again, I got the same indication. The CD is clean and free of scratches.

Do I have a bad CD or is there something else I can try?

Sounds like your system is missing some crucial system files that InstallShield needs...

Try running the setup.exe directly from the CD, rather than using the autorun menu.

It is either something to do with the SafeDisc protection (unlikely, as you have tried it in several PCs), or you may be missing some system file or other.

I tried running setup.exe directly from the CD. That didn't work either. I did not try to install on different PCs, just from different drives on the same PC. I have a Windows 2000 PC I can try to install it on. I'll let you know how that goes.

It installed just fine on the Windows 2000 PC, so the Windows 98 PC must be missing the system files. Can anyone tell me how to get the files it needs?

I have a similair problem. Im running on ME(yeah, yeah, I know it sucks, but I dont got $200 to upgrade). I bought dbpro and I couldnt get it to install so I copied the cd to my hard drive and ran the installer from the hd, it worked but it wont recognize my cd, it will start but then when I try to compile it says that I need to insert the cd, restart dbpro and then after that it says "Failed to validate compiler". And even sometimes it says to insert the cd when I sart the program.
