Hello! Looking at Cheesecakes Desert Eagle model, in which he did a very fine job in, i decided to make one. Yes, mine is high poly, because mine is going into an engine that i dont have to worry about the poly count in. So please dont say "How many pollies?" or "The poly count is way too high" because it doesnt really matter. Another thing, thats not the real texture, that texture was made within MAX itself to get an idea of what i should make it, so dont comment on the texture if you think its bad.....

Other than that, All C&C welcome!

dude if you really want a turkey sandwich, then make one, and make ham.sdaF?

I think that Alucard means that it looks like you created a 2D outline of the gun, then extruded it, and I agree with him. There are very few rounded edges.

Being a Deagle nut, I pick excrement out of the smallest little Deagle dilemmas....

Only two things I can see wrong. Underneath the barrel, it's just a flat surface, whereas it should be curved, like a cylinder. And also,
This bit should be just a cylinder.

Anyway, aside from that, pretty good work. Keep it up!

@Toasty - Thanks, I messed around with it a little until i got the effect i like, and heres a screenshot. And i also smoothed it around the grip and stuff. But if you look at the second screenshot, it looks funky when i pull the slider back, So can you give me some advice on what i should stick in there/take out of there to make it look right? maybe a picture or something?

Stop posting images in bmp format, it isn't hard to make them to jpg's.
EDIT:

Why do you say this? Even if it doesn't matter if you don't have a good edge layout your model will screw itself over, edge flow is one of the biggest things you need to think about when modeling, even if you're making a high poly.

Yeah the desert eagle has somewhat of a complicated barrel, un less you have good reference pics (something i never have) your going to have a difficult time modeling it...

Can we get a poly count? Shouldn't be too high... Also, have you gotten hands yet? Any animations coming? License? If it's free, estimated upload? Sorry, just want some details; it's really good. Not like EAI quality, but that's like. Yeah... Still really good, don't get me wrong.

Ah sorry i've been pretty busy lately, i just got a whole bunch of new airsoft guns so me and my friends have been going to a fe different fields all day the last few days, But i'll get animations and hands coming soon...

You'll be pretty freaked out when you hear this poly count, so please, make sure you have parental supervision if you are under 18, and dont get me wrong, for the engine that im using, the ploy count doesnt matter at all, the engine im using can hold over about 1 million and a half pollies per map, but...the poly count is...a little over 12,000

That's WAY overkill, that model could be made easily with the same detail under 2000 polygons.

In the words of Matuka, "Holy poly wasage!"

Like Alucard said, that's overkill, alot of people here have shown low poly models to be excellent. I mean, this is why you have bump mapping, to stop wasting like this.....

..and that 1.5 million poly would've been done on a state of the art PC, what about lower ones?
