To be honest I think it looks kind of basic, the segments looks lowres. But who knows...

...wow. That's really a mediocre looking model pack...even for $9.99.

The very conspicuous absence of close-up screenshots, makes me very wary about believing the quality of the models is of a good caliber.

Where's the screenshots depicting the player's arm and weapon, vaguely mentioned in the pack's description?

It won't be a purchase that I'll be making...

I think it looks pretty cool and would be a great pack for anyone attempting the mammoth task of making an FPSC RPG.

Having lower poly models and lower res textures is fine for that purpose especially when you want to populate a small town with people.

The art style is nice and such an approach hasn't done World of Warcraft any harm.

Too cartoony IMO, also Nomad, the problem in having tonnes of NPCs is more often than not because of sluggish AI routines...

Ehhh... I guess this might go good with Bond1's magic staves etc.

And EAI's swords, daggers, spears.

The person that made this must've been baked...

Nickydude, you made the pack look 4 times better than it does. Eh, I guess if you're making a kids game, this'd be the pack for you.

EDIT: Damn, I saw this and I thought "Sweet, a new pack, what's it gunna be this time? Zombie pack from Bond? More EAI weapons? Other stuff from TGC? No, just some coked-up crap...

My god, Arteria really did turn down the quality. Looking at their usual work, you'd think that they'd try and make the lods look a bit better.. Being as they always use lods for fpsc.

I've got the ruins pack he made and they aren't bad. I don't know why you guys just recklessly offend one another, it'll just make people hate you. The pack doesn't look that good, but that's my opinion.

...there were lots of texture and/or geometric backface issues, which literally led to holes in the meshes, during gameplay.

Some seaching with effort, and the posts are readily available for all to read.

When Model Packs 11-15 were under scrutiny, numerous requests were made of TGC to have the shoddy work corrected.

I don't believe that there ever was an official response from TGC, regarding this issue, or that the models in question were ever corrected.

The critical comments expressed here, and reluctance to touch this current model pack, is totally understandable, and completely warranted...

Yes, companies are run by heartless, mean people, people who give free updates to their software, people who respond to their customer's emails, people like Lee.

AHHHH!!

Seriously, TGC is probably one of the better companies out there regarding customer support, they changed the x10 liscense when nobody liked it, they release updates free, etc. I guess this is their dark side.

Punk13, no one is bashing Steve. His models look great, but his MP19 models look pretty much like T3DGM models in FPSC. If his models are meant for an engine other than FPSC, then why the heck is he selling them as an FPSC model pack? The models look pretty good in that screenshot, but this model pack will be a fail for use FPSC.

This pack was clearly developed for RPG games, not FPS. I do not see the point in releasing it for FPSC.

Do the monsters do anything, do they have scripts that make them attack the player, and do the human characters have standard functionality for FPSC? Just wondering.

The promo material says this, does it contain the scripts to make something even remotely like this happen, or is it up to the buyer....I didn't know you could even DO this scenario in FPSC...

"You could make a small fantasy village where townsfolk are going about their everyday lives, when minutes later, a band of goblins invade the village. The villagers could then be aided by the friendly giant ogre character, and you the player could choose which side you're on!"

Because now that we have variables, entity health control, head shots, and all the other great stuff that Lee has added to this engine; FPSC can be used for making games other that First Person Shooters.
This is something that was dreamed of long ago and FPSC is finally becoming the engine we hoped it could be, where anything is possible if the user has the skills.

Yes bond, that is possible now that we have variables.
I have been thinking of the very same thing of letting a player change sides or alliances.
It is as simple as a boolean.
I will even have the game play change depending on player input now that I can flag things.
This will make games very dynamic, which is what we need with limited a map size.
Now the same character can have many reactions all based on the value of a single variable.
Watch out people, because I want my Best of the Best Badge, and I am coming for it.

This pack is great when you can get 20 characters for only $10!
I'll find a way to put them to good use, and if none of you buy it then my game will look more like its custom than paid for.

That's pretty cool then - I have not played around with the new variables feature in FPSC yet. I'm gonna have to check that out.

Does anyone know what animations the characters have?

Not yet, but I just ordered, so as soon as I get it I will post a video.

Quote: "2 Weapons (1 knights arm, with sword) plus 1 bonus Monster Arm with crazy weapon! - play as a Monster!
"

I think this is what they were talking about.
You could start with a cut scene, and then follow with a HUD and scancodekeypressed script.
Then, your entry would result in which set of hands you got.
A) Human
B) Monster

If you did set a boolean variable with the input, then each characters AI could respond accordingly.
Fear the Monster and run or ...
Stop and chat with the human.

We are not limited to a boolean value though, so there could be many races resulting in many different character behaviors.

Hi

Yes, all the characters in the pack have scripts, and fight the player. A player weapon comes with the pack, in the form of a sword, and also a monster arm, with weapon.

Best Wishes

Thanks for clearing that up.

Since we have a better screenie, and some more info now, I figure I shouldn't have bashed this pack.
