I was planning on selling my upcoming game but I was wondering, do you have to be a licensed game developer to sell your games? Or can you do it without a license?

I found pills...and ate them!

No, you do not have to buy a license.
Quote: "We are pleased to announce that there are NO license restrictions on FPS Creator. You can sell whatever you make and do not have to pay us any royalties. This entitles you to sell your games on your own web site, sell via a publisher, have them placed on magazine cover discs or just give them away for free. The choice is yours. While we'd love to hear about any success stories resulting from FPS Creator built games, you'll never have to buy a license from us."

I guess none of you actually read his post

@xgcell
It depends on what the law say in your country, here in sweden all companies (gamedevelopers or fruitsellers) have to register for a certain campany tax. That is, 25% of all sales goes directly to the state

I guess you should mail/call/visit someone in your country who knows how to do.

P.S. Make sure you register your company name, and game title It will probably cost you around $100 per name, but I guess its worth it.

I hope that helped you

Signature erased for being too cool.

It would make sense if you needed a liscense. People could just make viruses and sell them as games.

Or if you lived in a communist state, I'm sure the government would want some of the money, infact the entire state would want some money out of it..so that means if you studied hard to become a developer..oh my god. I would hate to live in a communist state.
