Hello all.

I was looking at Jon's models:

http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&b=3&t=120707&p=0

And I was wondering what are the steps taken to make models such as these?

I assume its this:

1. Model lower poly character.
2. UV map the model.
3. Bring it to ZBrush/Mudbox and subdivide, sculpt high poly detail.
4. Export normal map (or is diffuse also exported?).
5. Add normal map to low poly model in the 3D modelling app.
6. Paint the texture
7. Apply finished texture to the low poly model (from step 5)
8. Export model for game.

Is this correct, or am I missing something (or am I mixing up the steps)?

It's correct, except you only export the normal map, not the diffuse map unless you textured in zbrush.

stept 3 could be different , Zbrush offers you to paint on the model.
So Jon could paint directly on the model In Zbrush and export the texture from there to photoshop.
And there he could add the extra details.

Somebody please give me a job...

A lot of times people will start with a base mesh as opposed to the game ready mesh. It helps avoid smoothing errors and pinching in your sculpting app, and as most people reuse them for similar characters, it saves time in the long run.

So the process would look more like this:
1. build base mesh
2. sculpt
3. retopo and Uv
4. bake down normals/ao
5. texture
6. export
