This is a model of a tommy gun I'm making with blender, I'm trying to keep it fairly low-poly but I don't think I'm doing it right. If I was looking at the right thing, it has over 500 faces, and I'm not even to the barrel yet. Advice?

the overall model looks ok but the barrel seems to be a little messy.
Try to reduce the poly count on it and create a better shape.

I think Strelok meant to say ruduce the polycount on the stock, also dont forget the thompson also had a diferent more box like magazine, If you need to keep the poly count down it could be an option.

Also the trigger handle could be reduced in detail a little and with a good texture won't detract from the overall detail too much.

I give ip with thos baner fing as it never seems to work for me. I woll now stop wasting mu time.

Yeah, I had a bit of trouble with the stock. I only used a side view as a reference which didn't help very much with that.

key word there is good, I'm horrible at texturing things, but I'll give it a go though.

also i'm planning on using this in a game set in the 30's, so the drum mag is a must.

and here's a wireframe, just in case that helps any.

Dont worry Kodiac, With practice perfection is achieved. Shame you cant use the box type magazine that may have helped you out a little.

If this model is in the players hands, try removing the any unseen polys, eg the barrel side of the magazine etc, If the player cant see it why display the poly. Not a perfect solution I admit but this may help to reach your poly limit.

Hope this helps.
