This is my first ever model which I created (done in Blender). See if you can guess what it is....
To show how much of a noob I am I don't even know how many polys it is x) But I am proud of it anywho...

Any CONSTRUCTIVE criticism would be appreciated

Thanks.

Being as this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel lucky?' Well, do ya punk?

Looks nice.

The poly count is located at the top right of Blender. It tells you vertices, edges, faces...

Perhaps that is just the perspective because it is matched precisely to the reference image.

Try adding some texture now, seems like you're getting pretty good with working with the mesh, the textures are the next step

How on earth do I do that Is there a program that allows to view the textured model in realtime and paint directly on it?

Blender does that
http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Manual/Texture_Paint

Here's a nice video for it too. Here you will also learn about material nodes, which can be very useful.

I recommend learning how to do it without Texture Painting though.
