Hi all,
I know all about the lagging problem for outdoor scenes, I've been searching the forum for tricks to overcome it and I found a post by a member saying that the problem will be solved by TGCs later this year (2008), well is that true? can we expect a solution soon?

...I don't recall hearing anything about this. Maybe it's true, I don't know. FPSC wasn't realy made for outdoor scenes.

The migration was also supposed to happen "late 2008", but that didn't really happen.

Since FPS creator uses BSP for the level making, you may want to split outdoor areas up, as I imagine it is a problem with the VIS portals being too large.

Simply, the engine won't draw what it cannot see. So big outdoor areas increase what can be seen.

However, it isn't actually that simple, as only segments can split up VIS portals, not entities.

You would have to look at how outdoor areas were done in Half-life. If you have it, id play the level where you go along the cliff and have to shoot the helicopter down.

Well, half-life 1, as that uses a more simple engine, so you can probably replicate the terrain in that easily.
