I have an idea for a game that I've been working on for a while (making models, writing...) and I've got all these great ideas for what the gameplay should be, but I know that FPSC is limited. So here's what I'm going to do. Here is a list of all the things that I want the game to do, and I was hoping that the community would tell me if Ply's Mod (which seems to be the last working mod) or X10 (or both) can or can't support the feature. The list is long and I know for a fact that some are pipe dreams, but when quiet a few people respond I'll weight what I can stand to liv without and make up my mind whether to use X10 or X9.

I'm sure that I'll get flamed for some of the things on this list by people telling me that they are on the specs for FPSCx9 or X10, but I've found that a lot of specs I've seen are very outdated or prerelease things that never made it to the final product.

Engine
Terrain (can be faked with segments)
Water (both visual and physics / swimming)
Ragdoll physics
Play movie cutscenes (preferably H.264 encoded)
Campaign and multi-level, multiplayer lobby

Scripting
Can make bodies fall apart (legs torn off by explosions...)
Dual wielding weapons
Menu chosen difficulty levels
Menu driven save / load
Halo-style checkpoint autosave
Multi stage zoom (like 1x, 3x, 8x)
3 way fighting (You're fighting two groups of enemies, who also fight against each other)
Multiple damage levels per character (headshot = dead, bodyshot = injured, shield = no injury)
Proximity / triggerzone based spawning and deletion of entities
Can only carry a certain number of guns

Tech
Able to handle 50+ entities in one room on an average PC
Will run on Vista Home (I've read that X9 and X10 can be installed side by side on Vista with no problems)
Glass / water refraction
Bloom
Reflective material (water, glass, metal)
Looping animated textures
Ambient Occulsion
Radiosity
DOF
Dynamic Lights / shadows
Soft shadows
Coloured fog
Specular / bump mapping
Custom shaders
On-the-fly shader changing (for nightvision and IR vision...)
Menu driven resolution / effects controls

I'm mostly interested in Plys Mod and X10, but if there are other active mods out there that you think would be better suited for me, let me know and sorry to be a bother

most of that stuff is only in x10 so i would go with that. but does your graphics card support x10?

Okay, I'll split this up between what can be achieved by the Mod or X10:

Ply's Mod:
-Dual wielding weapons
-Menu chosen difficulty levels (As of right now, X10 has no variable system... unless I'm mistaken, which I could be )
-Can only carry a certain number of guns

FPSC X10:
-Ragdoll physics
-Can make bodies fall apart (legs torn off by explosions...) (Difficult to set up from what I've heard/seen, but possible)
-Glass / water refraction
-Bloom
-Reflective material (water, glass, metal)
-Menu driven resolution / effects controls

Both:
-Terrain (can be faked with segments)
-Water (both visual and physics / swimming) (For Ply's Mod, the entire system will need to be scripted (Swimming would be very hard to accomplish, but I have faith in our scripters ), but a simple (nonreflective/refractive) shader can be applied to a plain to provide the water movement effect)
-Play movie cutscenes (preferably H.264 encoded)
-Campaign and multi-level
-Menu driven save / load
-Halo-style checkpoint autosave
-Multi stage zoom (like 1x, 3x, 8x)
-3 way fighting (You're fighting two groups of enemies, who also fight against each other) (For the Mod, this will require extensive scripting)
-Proximity / triggerzone based spawning and deletion of entities
-Will run on Vista Home (I've read that X9 and X10 can be installed side by side on Vista with no problems)
-Dynamic Lights / shadows (Technically speaking, the Mod can have dynamic shadows)
-Coloured fog
-Specular / bump mapping
-Custom shaders

Neither:
-multiplayer lobby
-Multiple damage levels per character (headshot = dead, bodyshot = injured, shield = no injury) (No headshots in X10, yet, nor body shots... but a shield is scriptable in the Mod, even for character entities)
-Able to handle 50+ entities in one room on an average PC (I don't consider an X10 compatible card to be "average" in a PC )

Unsure:
Looping animated textures
Ambient Occulsion
Radiosity
DOF
Soft shadows
On-the-fly shader changing (for nightvision and IR vision...)

If anyone can categorize my "Unsure" section to where they should be, I'd be appreciative. I'm not well versed in FPSC X10's capabilities or native featurelist, so some of this may be skewed.

I doubt either has radiosity, in fact, I doubt any game current or planned will have radiosity in it. It takes my PC about 30 seconds to render a character model using even simple radiosity.

Basically, if you want that, you'll have to fake it.

Thanks, yes my computer has an X10 graphics card. I'm getting a new computer, a Mac Pro. Looks like I'll be using X10. I doubted that it could do radiosity or ambient occlusion, but I can fake it without much of a problem.

...any thoughts of modding X10, Ply?

Not at all. X10 will not be Moddable until Lee:
1) Releases DBP X10 (Or an update to DBP that includes the X10 functionality)
2) Releases the source code to FPSC X10

Glad we could help you make up your mind, though.

Oh, I didn't realize that it wasn't out yet. When the source code comes out, maybe I'll take a look at it and add some scripting power.
