What are the recommended ways of creating textures good quality textures for your models. I'm talking for buildings, etc. and also characters. By hand in paint shop seems way too slow.

I've considered taking digital pictures of everything then importing them, and then adding my own style/flair but wanted suggestions.

THanks

I tend to create mine all by hand, no photos or anything, I find it much better than anything else, seeing as it makes it look that much more real.
Obviously doing it that way requires a lot of practice, I mean I'm not that good at it either. But practice makes perfect.

I'd use a picture and some kind of fader tool to make it blend i with the game; nothing can be exactly realistic, because it would stand out from everything else.

Some people say that I'm crazy... And I agree.
