one of the Default Segments has a marble style floor, how can i change this to make it reflective as in some games, or is this not possable?

This can be achieved in FPSC X10, and is a default map. In X9 you could try the floor with the cubereflectalpha shader, but it won't actually reflect.

Sadly, if EFX were still around, you could try setting the water so it was perfectly flat, then put it above the marble, and it'd appear to be reflective, like so:

Sadly Nighthawk has suspended all EFX downloads, because one person violated the terms of use, it's a real shame, because it's a great mod...

See attached screen:

Yeh, my graphics card is an ATI Radeon X1300, not quite capable of such scenes...

It looks pretty though...

Believe it or not, I made that scene in...5 minutes, ten minute tops...

just wait until efxMod is available again.
There will be a date this year, where the site is online again.

But now, you just have to wait...

How exactly do you do this in X10?

Set the water speed to just above the floor, set the speed to 0 and the smoothness to 0. Then set the colour to whatever you like (black works best). X10 even knows it's marble and turns off the water sound effect.

Thank God something on it works.

Amen to that

That's good to know. But that wouldn't really work if you had a few floors or if you had parts that go down (unless you scripted the water level to go down if the player went down or something). Is there any way to make reflectiveness work on specific parts/segments? I want to make a room with a reflective marble segment (custom made), but also with a carpet segment...if the reflectiveness works on water, there should be some way to make it work on segments/entities I think...

So, naturally, we'll be able to make what CG made in that screen, in the migration version?

Gah, damn you Reza Igi....

Anyway, how come EFX had to be discontinued just because of that?

@Chris

Yes, but only on completely flat floors, it won't work on anything other than that...

@Rampage

Yeh, looks awesome...wish I had X10...

No, you don't. efxmod is much better but by the time I realised that X10 wasn't working and I wanted to move back to efx and x9 our friend Mr. Igi had already forced efx's lockdown and it was too late!

I think its stupid that he closed EFX because of one person... Does E.A. close down when one person pirates their game?

I must say it is too, but as the old saying goes, "One ruins it for the rest of us". I really wanted to get this mod after reading up, but over some issue, now I will never get the opportunity to use or get it.

Why buy x10 when you can mod your x9? Seriously, it's less extensive than x10, maybe not as easy, but still.

X10 has these features encoded into it's heart, it's therefore more optimised...

... you know what a source mod is don`t you?
so efx also has them added directly into the source.

Maybe, but it is less stable. FPSC X10 is more optimised for those kinds of insane changes...

I meant that these technologies are integrated into the very base of X10's coding, the Direct X10 part...

EFX has added it into the source, but it doesn't look as integrated, and there's still a few teething problems with getting stufff to work with it. Don't get me wrong though, it's a great mod...

Meh, I still can't run EFX Mod at 600 + fps like I can in X10.
But thats the X10 code....

600 FPS? I doubt that. You would have to run a military grade computer to get it that fast.

...600FPS ...

are you from the future or what???

I think there isn`t any PC out which can run x10 with 600+FPS!

My PC is very good (not the best but one of them) and i get around 200FPS. -.-

EDIT:

Quote: "Direct X10 part"

yeah...you are right. but i don`t think there is a real x10 DBP unless i have it in my hands. All of this effects can be done in DBP with DX9. I think FPSC is only searching if DX10 is installed or a graphicscard with x10 and not more. But if there is a x10 Version of DBP, you are right. Don`t think i hate FPSC x10 or something, it would be nice to see dbpx10, but atm there is no version and so i don`t believe that fpscx10 is real x10....

what the Mod Edit am i writing

Dark Goblin, that's two threads you've swore in, even if most of it is covered in asterisks. Swearing gets you on post approval.

EDIT:
