Introduction:

UG Log Alpha B3-h1g
Ragnarök, used in ancient times as the final destiny of the gods’ it’s true meaning unrealized. That was until ten years, seventy-six days, four hours, thirty-nine minutes, and twelve seconds ago when…They came. On July 4, 2071 the Auros, a group of malevolent space pirates plunged down from the dark abysmal sky. Unknowingly to the races that our day of retribution had come. Three weeks following the incident hundreds upon thousands of craters were found all collected in the heart of Frogwood. The holes extending for at least four-hundred centimeters littered the desecrated hillsides of Nuremburg. The scorched hills were all dismissed as the collection of heat combined with the pollution caused by the many impact zones. However, when this started spreading to other regions of the world the United Governments denied any plague theories stating that these were due to the pollution released into the air by the meteors. Nonetheless, this epidemic continued this “black menace” tripled in size in less than a week and most recently people were disappearing with no trace left behind. With whole cities engulfed in this pestilence and an alarming rate of people being kidnapped the UG authorized a global lockdown on any and all cities not devoured by the influenza. This all remained fine until out of the depressions encompassing the world rose simultaneously a race of half animal half machine hybrids known now as…the Auros. Over the course of the next ten days these spiteful demons enslaved most of the races brought to lands beyond our own. Though only one fact is clear, those who are captured shall never return the same. However we still survive even after this dreaded slaughter, though our numbers are diminished with our population decreasing each day it’s only a matter of time until we go extinct.

The Game:

The goal of the game is for Jumpert to collect all of the Nitro Blasts, destroy Junkyard Robot, seal him to the Dark Zone forever, and figure out the secrets behind his past. The Nitro Blasts can be collected at each of the different levels. Each level has a variety of obstacles you will have to overcome. You will also need to collect keys and maps along the way unlocking all of the places that give Jumpert his powers.

Gameplay:

Jumpert is mainly a puzzle based platformer similar to Mario, Braid, and Portal. Jumpert the main character is a Grasshopper-Praying Mantis hybrid who travels through the various levels. After the events in Frogwood Jumpert acquires the power to reverse time and slow-down time. Throughout the course of the game his powers increase allowing him to absorb some of the bosses’ abilities. There are many puzzles hidden throughout the levels each having a unique element to them.

The Worlds:

Altogether there are 4 different worlds each with a plethora of levels spanning from Frogwood to the depths of the Dark Zone. The worlds contain Sub-Worlds which are side-levels differing from the main storyline in some instances. The main levels each have a different amount of Nitroblasts, enemies, and style of gameplay.

Jumpert’s Powers:

Defense: Allows Jumpert to take more damage before suffering a fatality.
Jump: Allows Jumpert to jump higher
Throw: Allows Jumpert to throw enemies or items he grabs further
Grab: Allows Jumpert to grab heavier enemies or items
Nitroblasts: The main currency of the game

Raising Jumpert’s Powers:

Defense: Dodge 1 enemy’s projectile. (Increases at a rate of 2)
Jump: Jump over 3 cohorts.
Throw: Throw anything 8 ft.
Grab: Grab 10 enemies.
Nitroblasts: Jumpert collects them at each level and stores them in his backpack

Jumpert’s Enemies:

Bosses:
1. Junkyard Robot
2. Junkbot
3. Punchbag Tyler
4. Jumpert
5. T.O.M
6. Plus Many More…

Cohorts of Junkyard Robot:

Gohuck

However, once the main storyline is completed you can attempt to obtain all Nitroblasts, defeat all levels, and create more levels in the level editor.

Update:

Since my last post I have designed my levels for the demo. I have worked on some issues with the time engine in which you get stuck in a sloped wall if your hurt by an enemy above you. I also worked a little on the animation.

Also PLEASE tell me which logo you like the best I had my friends design some logos for me. Game logo will becoming soon also.

Wow...intresting storyline. Nice screenie though the enemy FlyGuy seems to have some extra white behind th wings.

I cannot wait for a demo and finally I like the red rose petal logo and the futuristic logo the best.

None of them are really logos...they're all signatures.

Logo 1,3,4,5 look best.. umm.. if you want me to pick just one it probably would be the last one too.
I hope you can and will keep this visual style, very alternative. The gameplay-concept seems promising. Actually Jump and Run-Games are my favourite genre, so I'm sure I will have a lot of fun once the game is finished.

That's true.

Only Dark BASIC Pro or Dark BASIC WIPs are allowed in the WIP board.

I think it would be alright. But really you should email a mod.

There are no mods around this board anymore, it seems. That other thread about (M)MORPG theory here in WIP hasn't been moved to Game Design Theory either.

But yes, contacting a mod sounds like a good idea. At worst, they'll send it to Programming Talk.

Perhaps we should request that a mod be chosen to cover this board? I think if no current mods wish to view this board often enough, I believe there are enough decent candidates here for those that visit these boards regularly. And know the etiquette for WIP threads.

I second that...shall we hold an election on the Geek Culture board?

You won't get far. Remember Game Design Theory? When that went downhill after the lack of mods visiting? All we got was mods saying that if we got a problem then email them.

I dunno, a mod can't keep an eye on every section and they are putting their own time into it, though if a problem arises we can contact them, personally having somebody 'keep an eye' is more efficient, especially if they watch the board. But of course it's up to TGC and the mods and whether they believe taking on another mod is a good idea.

Who do you email for this kind of suggestion?
