I like the sounds of this competition, and I like how you gave plenty of time for people to work on it.

So, I had thought.

Since this is a modeling competition for FPSC, then people using the Free Version of FPSC could get in on this, right?
I mean, they can import custom media into that too can't they? (I never used the free version)

Anyway, I wanted to offer a prize of points for this contest, but it seems that there is no built in way to gift points in the store at this time.

So, if it is okay with Aaagreen, then I will offer cash instead. There would be only 1 condition...YOU MUST HAVE A PAYPAL ACCOUNT TO RECEIVE THE FUNDS!
(I do not like to transfer money over the web any other way than PayPal. Sorry)
If this prize offer is not acceptable because of the condition, then I understand.

Anyway, I thought that 2000 poiints ($20 US) would allow someone using the free version of FPSC to buy their upgrade.
If someone who already has the registered version wins, then they could use the points for media.
So, since I can't transfer the points, I guess the cash offer is close to being the same.

I offer $20 US as a prize, but I will only transfer it via PayPal.

Let me know if that is acceptable or not Aaagreen.
If you feel comfortable with other transfer methods, then maybe I can send it to you PayPal and then you transfer it to the winner any way you want.

Lol,

I removed all images before your post BVG, so it seems your effort was pointless..

And CE, that prize seems reasonable.

Yeah, I have heard its complicated, so I'll just do it the fast, easy, and secure way...PayPal.
This way we won't have to bother him at all.
However, the flaw is that the person may not buy TGC store points after getting the money.
So, to uncomplicate things and assure the funds are spent at TGC, they may want to consider making gifting part of the store point purchase process.
This would allow a freindlier and uncomplicated method to offer TGC Store Points as Forum Contest Prizes.
Offering points as prizes is desired by the entrants and helps support TGC and the store publishers.
That should not be complicated process because it doesn't have to be.

It has been a while since I actally made some 3D models, so I thought I would enter just for fun. I'm working on this Trashcan right now, altough it was suppose to be one of those standing ashtrays at first, but it sorta turned into this.

And yes, I know that the UV map has some bad placements right now, working on it, the model is made out of exactly 100 polygons if you are intrested.

I'd associate dogs, cats, pidgeons etc as urban, if you feel up to making a fully scripted rigged character then that's fine, although it wont (shouldnt) have a noticable impact on your scoring, being as this isnt a character competition.

I'll enter, but I have a few questions;does the single object have to have only one texture map? i.e., can a normal map be applied? Can baked lighting be applied to the texture? Thanks.

Hopefully I'll do some crazy next-gen sub-divided awesome work as a entry...
(Make high-poly model, make low poly model, uv the low poly model, then bake the high poly model onto the low... lol)

i am in definately, but the 20$ prize has a flaw,i cant get it since im not 18 and my parents dont have a paypal card so maybe you can fix it up like this:you use 20$ to convert into store points and you buy what i want and send me well anyways i will probably not win since the competition is high(xplosys,x games) but lets give it a try

edit: are multiple variations allowed like multiple colour textures so user can choose or like open/closed door variation?

No.
If you are not a PayPal member then you need to select one of the other prizes.
If the prize goes unclaimed by a PayPal member, then I will add it to the FPSC modeling competition #7.
I am not going to redistribute any models, so get PayPal or pick another prize if you win.

It's not a flaw; its a condition.
I'm sorry, but I have already explained why.

i was just having an idea sheesh.so what about my other question about the variations???

edit: slight peek on my entry, still in very early stages, just completed the body and added some smoothing

the face amount is 513 so its too much,2 polygons=1 face so right now i have 1026 polys so i will have to shave some off beacause rims, seats and interior addons will count up quite some polys

Well I saw this and thought I'd give it a shot.
So here's my first 3D model (I only started yesterday):

Probably not going to win but it was fun

You can throw objects into it and they collide with it properly as well

Might have a go with this, I finally discovered the secret to pre rendered normals and ambient occlusion, so I might make something...

It's just standard procedure. You shouldn't have an interest in the outcome of a competition you are holding. That's all.

I may be unable to judge, although do not take me off the list just yet. A person very very dear to my heart just passed away due to breast cancer and I'm going to take a small hiatus. If I have the time/will, I'll judge when the time comes.
