I just found out this thing, thought it might be useful for Anim8or users.

First make a totally black image and save it in a format Anim8or can read, e.g. .jpg. Then open up your model and also open the materials tab. There click on new and then click "Texture" in the dialog box that comes up. Then select the "Transparency" file browser and find your black image. Now apply the material to the model you want transparent and enjoy.

That's not just for anim8or, completely black images (0,0,0) are detected as transparent in most engines and softwares and such.
