Dark GDK / Can I Use Sprites and Particles?

I have a ship sprite that I am flying around the screen 360 degrees in any direction, and the flight is pretty good, but I wanted to have sprites shoot out of the ship as it travels giving the effect of a trail of plasma burning behind it...

So I tried to dbMakeParticles() and the whole simulation goes away, and just a background with Particles comes up...

Not sure if I should abandon the whole sprite thing, or what?

Any input would be appreciated, tried to search the forum, but couldn't find anything that would help.

you mean as soon as you use particles the ship sprite dissappear?

if so then you need to draw the 2d sprites in front of 3d (particles)

there are specific commands to switch if 2d is drawn first or last.
