Hey guys.
I started on a flamethrower. Just the basic mesh.
Its nothing special. This is my second weapon model.
This time a fiction weapon. Not based on a real one.
So it may have flaws in it that in real life it wouldnt work.
But who cares!

Anyway tips are allways welome! Cause i am kind of stuck.
I dont know what to add. I was thinking of a gas tank that the carrier could put on his back.
With a hose leading to it.

Here is the progress.

Smoothed the edges a bit.

Hope you like it!
(and for the people who followed the building model thread. I am still working on it, its just a pretty lot of work on the UV)

Looks good, nothing really much to criticize considering that it's not really too much geometry on the weapon.
If you would want to add something maybe a tube that goes from the weapon into some sort of gas tank, to have some "ammo".

Looks great! Reminds me of a flamethrower from a game, but I cant remember wich. Maybe it was Warhammer 40k (the real one, not the game )
Cant wait to see it textured.

Yeah the concept is from warhammer. I saw a model somewhere on google.

I also have a different flamethrower. But i think this one is better than my other flamethrower.

Alucard. Thanks yeah i wanted to add something like that.
But didnt knew if it would fit with it. Since it already have a tank beneath.
But i think i'll add it.

Hey thanks alucard!
Ah man i thought it was from gears of war ah well.
No man but seriously, i really thought it was from gears of war.
Cause i knew i had seen it before. So i guess i made a mistake with gow and halo.

Thank Samhh glad you liked it!
And also thank you X games glad you like it.
Even though it isnt done yet. Just have to texture some stuff on it.

Swampert like Alucard said. Its from Halo.
It was just based on that model. Even though i thought it was fom gow.

zilch vortex I used 3ds and photoshop. And thanks glad you liked it!

Toasty fresh. Of course!
But i'll do it in a few hours since i am still at work.

Butters. Thanks man glad you like it!
The polycount is something in the 600.
But for a more accurate polycount, you would have to wait.
Cause i dont know for sure. And i am at work right now.
But will be back in a few hours.

I still have to add the character and maybe a gas tank for on his back.
Unless you think thats a pain to rig?

---EDIT---

And guys. What do you think what sort of character would fit most with this gun?
Was just wondering. I was thinking just a basic sort of trooper style.
With heavy armor, helmet etc.
I was also thinking of a sort of mutant trooper.
Without helmet but heavy armor. Etc.

Yeah i thought of that lazerus...
But i think a soldier or something like that. Suits better with this weapon.

Quik i use 3ds max and photoshop. As for a tutorial i might do one.
But i first have to finish some stuff.

Butters i looked at the polycount. and its a bit more than i expected.
Its 909. I thought it was something in the 600.

And toasty. Here is a picture of it without the skylight render.

Awesome, I'd love to have a go with that model...

I think an armoured guy in a suit, not the big chunky kinda suits like in GoW or Halo, but smaller and lighter ones, like in HL...

Seriously, that looks pretty nice,

It looks like it's been squished... I don't think it would hurt to scale it out sideways a bit.

Remember those old guys? They made epic renders, I think one of them was called DaVinci, and all they used was MS Paint. Sometimes it's just skill....

Hey i have been fully focusing on the flamethrower dude!
The high poly version is done! (will post screens soon!)

But! The flamethrower is bugging me! In my opinion its to blocky.

Here is a picture (this one is from Halo)

And i like this one better! The design i mean.
(cause the model/texture itself are of course much better than mine)

Its much better and adds a bit of realism. While mine is just a block with a tube on it.

Just wanted to know what you think?

I'd have to agree with the statement that it is too blocky.

Yeah it was based on those warhammer flamethrowers.
So i guess it was their style. But when i saw a picture of that
flamethrower model in Halo.
I was immediatelly sold. So i think i'll redo the flamethrower.
