Why not have it in Wigan, the home of DB?

Or shift slightly and have it in Bolton, at the world famous Phoenix Club(Just wishful thinking there, ignore)?

Or shift a bit more and have it in Manchester.

I dont know, im only 16 and Im not particularly fond of public transport.

That reminds me, in the past month or two I had 2 dreams, firstly where everybody was in a big convention(and at the time I knew nothing of this convention) and the DB team were there and the aim was for each team of DB users to make a sort of skyscraper out of big building blocks (!!?!!). Then that dream changed and at the convention I was in a sort of fps game(!!?!!). Then a while after I had another dream where I was in a friends house (that, funnily , i hadnt been in ever or even seen) and I met who I think may have been Rick Vanner, i cant remember, and he showed me something on DB.

Then I woke up. Is this a mysterious omen/premonition?

Lets call mulder and scully.

I'm interested but one months notice is just way too short! I will need to book time off work and organise a flight to England. I'm in the RAF so flight cost is no problem but still needs organisation.

I will not be the only one that needs to plan things. So how about a little more notice? Three months sounds reasonable(?). Some time in November perhaps?

And how about Blackpool - it's kinda central, it's got a rail station and an airport, has a s#!t load of guest houses and plenty of places to hold this kind of meet. And not to forget - more pubs than you could shake a stick at!

Nine lives to choose from and I get stuck with this one!

Well, its been put back to the 4-5 of October (I've e-mail Rich to see if thats acceptable), so you've got well over a month to sort things out (more if I need to change them). One thing it cant be done later is than October - from November onwards people will be getting ready for Christmas, conferences will be booked up etc...

Hmmm, do you know where Blackpool is - thats not exactly central...

Can I ask a basic question or two...has anyone created an Agenda? Does anyone have any presentations to make? How about a projector? Or even a couple of sessions or discussion topics? Is there any structure at all yet? The general idea is to have a plan of action, then find a venue.

If it's gonna be done, it needs to be done right! This is post number 69 on where it's going to be held, and nobody has even mentioned the content!

I'd love to come, but there's no point if it's just an extension of this thread. I can just see a handful of people wandering aimlessly around a room, looking for someone to tell them how good they are.

Work it baby!

Of course, its being done by me...

I was thinking of a layout of more or less like the American one - however, I need to know how many might/will/thinking about coming (plus I need to hear from TGC). Once I know a reasonable number of people want to come, I can deal with the rest fairly easily. However, until both these conditions are met, it wont be going very far...

If you do have any sensible ideas, let me know. I'm always willing to listen to suggestions...

Jesus suffering f**k mate, are you taking the p**s? The good thing about Birmingham / Manchester is they're almost in the middle of the country. Technically, Newcastle is closer to halfway, but if we're doing this on population, I think it's only fair to set your sights a bit farther north.

I would be interested in going. The problem is in getting there. I would probably have to go by train which I guess would take around 4 - 5 hours with a few changes along the way. That is if I'm right in thinking Chichester is south of London? I'm not entirely sure where it is.

The thing is at the moment a lot of engineering work is being carried out on the west coast line. I'll have to check the trains and see what is going on with them around the time of the convention.

Mike Yahoo! Maps has a good set of online maps to checkout where things are, its about as accurate as A-Z maps so i'd suggest anyone who wants to find out more like where it is, what transportation is available etc...

probably a good place to start - then if you need transportation find out who else is going near you try to hitch a lift with someone else going else check TravelLink for thier bus/train services.
Coach services might take a little longer, but they tend to go more places and are ALOT cheaper if i recall correctly.

Still think Luton is a better choice because of the airport and railway go there, plus alot of coach services and its not exactly in a city centre which makes B&B for those who need it cheaper than a major city like London/Nottingham/Manchester/Etc...

IF I get the all clear from the doctor and they let me go back to work, then I will have the readies I need to go to this convention (can`t afford it on SSP, £64 a week?, are they serious?), so if they say I ain`t about to peg out from another heart attack then yes, I will be there, I should get the all clear tommorow with some luck, wish me well

sod! sod! sod!, as you can probably guess from this start to the post, the doctor says I need more tests, just a little matter of waiting two months for an appointment , then another month for the results , then I need an appointment with the specialist, (probably only a two year waiting list <sarcasm>, I don`t like this, sounds like I`m being softened up for something nasty , I don`t like the thought of heart surgery, I hope that isn`t what they have in mind, I was in a ward with a couple of guys who where recovering from it, they split you open down the chest then don`t even get the edges level when they join it up again, made me worry just looking at them , oh well!, at least the cars paid for, just a matter of how long I can afford to run it , sorry Mr Toad, I would have liked to have attended your DB convention, maybe next year?.

Yes, there's a couple of steam trains that go from Southhampton to Portsmouth and then onto Chichester...
