I'll just leave it out completely as it's unlikely people would use it and it wouldn't be good if a player went into that lobby and didn't understand they were chatting to players across the game and not just in their own lobby

Sven, I know you are excited and all, but you can't keep expecting updates every day. Knxrb probably has a job or goes to collage. Programming an application like this on top of work or studies is difficult. There is still much yet to do and he is working as fast as he can to get the program out. A programmer cannot rush or the quality of the program suffers. He will post when he has an update. I don't think he wants to keep it away from you. lol.

@PekelaarSFX: I don't know what language that is but it looks like it's the .NET Framework messagebox so install this and try running it again:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=0856eacb-4362-4b0d-8edd-aab15c5e04f5&displaylang=en

@Keith: Yes please, I didn't think of that

@Sven: I only like to post updates when there's a large difference/update with the program to tell people about

lol knxrb I just had a quick question. Can the DLC system also be used for updates? to the game I mean. Then again, I am not sure how that would work because the game wont lock if you don't have the current most update.

can you make diffrent game types?

Like map 1 is a team deadmatch, map 2 is free 4 all, map 3 is invasion etc. And that the players can see what game type it is?

And can you make a death screen? the screen that you see before you respawn?

Thanks Keith

@Sven: No because some of those games types aren't available in FPSC.
You can change the level, time-limit and kills required though.

What do you mean by a death screen?

Showing a picture can be done after death while the spawn timer counts down.

Ok, check that there is a singleplayer zip file in the 'Files\levelfiles' folder. There should be one there.

And could I have a screenshot of the main folder and the 'Files' folder please?

Hmm, everything should work for singleplayer, it could be because it's X10, I'm not sure. I'll look into it for you

The 'Files\levelfiles\1.exe' file should be called 'Files\levelfiles\attackeg.exe' though for the multiplayer level.

New progress update for you guys:
I've payed for a server upgrade so now I have unlimited bandwidth and unlimited space available for FPSC IP.

It also means I can provide dedicated game databases so I can provide the optional extra choice of paying a few to have a database for each single game you make, rather than having multiple games share a database.
That'll mean it runs faster for your games and more users can connect at the same time

Now the database structure is as follows:
Game developers will have the choice to have their game on any one of ten to fifteen available databases.
However they can choose to pay a bit extra and get a database dedicated to that one game.

It also means I can add a few more features to FPSC IP that I couldn't add before due to space limitations.

Plus the pricing method has been changed but I'll say more on that at a later date

Some features will only work with source modifications if the source mod owners integrate the FPSC IP source modifications.

The current FPSC IP source mod is about 25 lines long so it's very easy to add and will be available free for source modders to add integration with FPSC IP to their mods.

Hello!
I know this is not the best topic to post my message, but I could'nt find better, and I have to know a few things before buying FPSC.
How many mods can be used in the original FPS Creator at the same time? I'm asking it because I would like to build a multiplayer game, and I need the efx mod, and lemur V2 mod, and FPSC IP mod that adds the game lobby and chat.
Furthermore, could you tell me what format type the sounds are in the FPSC? The sounds of the steps, the music, etc.
In the end, the most important thing I need to know...
Which FPS Creator do you offer for creating a multiplayer game? X10, or the original? Which provides us more freedom? I wanted to buy X10, but then I saw there arent any mods for that, so I decided to buy original FPSC. Is it a good decision?
Sorry for bothering you guys here. And thank you for the answers!

Hi guys, another (slightly overdue) progress update:
The FPSC IP source code edit has been completed, it's around 35 lines so very easy to add and merge with the FPSC source code.
It will be publicly available on release day for people to download and integrate.

The achievements and stat tracking features are now 100% complete and the following are tracked by FPSC IP:
> Total kills per match - Keeps a track of how many kills the player got in total.
> Highest killstreak per match - Keeps track of the highest number of kills in a row without dying.
> Total deaths per match - Keeps track of how many times the player died.
> Total suicides per match - Keeps track of how many times the player killed themself, either by falling or jumping into oblivion, etc.
> Kills per gun per match - Keeps track of how many kills the player got with each different gun.

The above can then be used to unlock achievements, examples:
'Sitting Duck' achievement is unlocked when player gets more than 20 deaths in one match.
'Massacre' achievement is unlocked when player gets 15 or more kills in one match.
'MP40 Expert' achievement is unlocked when player gets 22 or more kills in one match using the MP40.
'Observer' achievement is unlocked when player gets less than 3 kills in a single match.
You get the idea...

Achievements are 100% customisable with names, descriptions, images and unlock requirements. No limit to the amount of achievements per game either

Stat tracking is also tallied up and kept as a total for all the times they've played your game, they are then also added to online leaderboards.

All data such as leaderboard scores and stats will be accessible by the game developers using a special 'Read-Only' SQL Server connection, when dedicated databases are used. This allows the scores to be displayed where the game developer wants and in any format.

Also I have decided to provide a much improved free version of FPSC IP that will allow multiple levels, stat tracking and a few more features for the people who can't buy it immediately or who can't buy it at all (The joys of having unlimited servers, and no, I've not forgotten those with no money )

Now I'm off for some much needed sleep

@Huncut1:
Quote: "How many mods can be used in the original FPS Creator at the same time?"

You can use one mod per game.
FPSC IP however is an exception as unless you use the FPSC IP menu bypassing mod, it doesn't require a source edit and can be applied to any FPSC X9 game.

Quote: "could you tell me what format type the sounds are in the FPSC? "

Sound format is '.wav' and '.ogg' I think.

Quote: "Which FPS Creator do you offer for creating a multiplayer game?"

I'm obviously going to say X9 because I know what's in the new FPSC IP

Quote: "Is it a good decision?"

Aye

Couple of question

1.
Quote: "Stat tracking is also tallied up and kept as a total for all the times they've played your game, they are then also added to online leaderboards.

All data such as leaderboard scores and stats will be accessible by the game developers using a special 'Read-Only' SQL Server connection, when dedicated databases are used. This allows the scores to be displayed where the game developer wants and in any format."

I kind of understand this, but at the same time my English fails me. Does this mean we can show these stats on our sites? or does this mean users will have to go to your site?

2.
Quote: "Also I have decided to provide a much improved free version of FPSC IP that will allow multiple levels, stat tracking and a few more features for the people who can't buy it immediately or who can't buy it at all (The joys of having unlimited servers, and no, I've not forgotten those with no money )"

Again my English fails me, so what your saying is the new version of FPSC IP is free? and these will be upgrades just like the current version (3.1)? if this is the case, when we purchase with money, what will it include? what are the benefits for the version we pay for?

Thanks again Knxrb

Quote: "Does this mean we can show these stats on our sites?"

It means that the game developer can connect to the database and retrieve the stats, then display them wherever they like

Quote: "Or does this mean users will have to go to your site?"

It's also possible for players to view them on the FPSC IP site.

Quote: "Again my English fails me, so what your saying is the new version of FPSC IP is free?"

The pricing system has changed and more details will be available at a later date, but the basic system will be free to use with addiitional features available to those who pay.

Quote: "i read on your site that for the people with a own server there is a other version... wich on ?"

The new version will have support for people to use their own servers to host the database for lobbies, chat and a bit of other FPSC IP data. You'll need to have a server that runs SQL Server 2005 as MySQL is not supported by FPSC IP.
All table SQL queries will be available after release so that tables are generated automatically in your databases.

Sounds great! I will have a drive up and ready when this comes out

If you don't mind me asking, I am very curious. I may have asked in the passed, I am not sure if it was answered though. How in the world in the gun selecting feature going to work? What will the system look like? Will this system look like a weapon shop? how will any of this be put into a game.

Finally, can we set the system so that the users will have to purchase said weapons with "points" earned after each game? so by default, a new user lets say will automatically be handed a (m16) as a default weapon, and as he progresses, he will be able to by different guns with this system? I have no idea how this will work, so I am just curious

The gun selection system will probably use a list of guns and images provided by the game developer and the list will be shown to the player. They select the gun they want to start with and then the game loads.

This will probably be included as an update to FPSC IP though, as I need to keep some features to continue to add to FPSC IP in the future.
