I am really bored at work and to pass the time I knocked this up, I should really have a look at the hands again because they are awfull. I have no plans for this model for anything so I have had a play with turbosmnooth. I dont usually do creatures as they normally look very inbred however I think this guy is actually recognisable as an ant.

If your really interested the poly count is 6500

Now I really should get on with some work........

I give ip with thos baner fing as it never seems to work for me. I woll now stop wasting mu time.

It looks great. As you said the hands are a bit iffy but otherwise the model looks good.

I think your main issue with the hands is that the fingers and thumb need to all curl toward the palms, like fingers naturally do.

Also, the mouth is a little odd, maybe try extending the lips forward slightly?

I'm not trying to be overly critical, this is a great model, I can picture it in a Pixar movie or something. I just had a couple suggestions.

hands are one of the hardest things to model even if they are cartoony.

Also seeing as your model is generally speaking 3 spheres and not high in details you dont really need turbosmooth(im assuming the modifier in 3ds max) you should experiment with smoothing groups. Research them in your 3ds max documentation that max ships with.

Thanks for the comments guys, Like I said I was just trying to cure some boredom whilst at work, I normally dont do characters and was just playing around with some tools in Max that I dont usually use. The turbosmooth was only used on the head, feet and hands.

The hands where kind of rushed a bit as I was due to finish and didnt want to stay late just to finish them.

I normally would use smoothing groups on my models I just wanted to play with the turbosmooth as I hadnt tried it before and wanted to see how it worked.

Im not going to do any more to the fellow as I am busy updating my back catalogue of models.

I give ip with thos baner fing as it never seems to work for me. I woll now stop wasting mu time.
