Inspired by the Audi TT by Toulis and being very bored at work and having the reference images on my hard drive I though I would make this. I dont usually make cars and the challenge is proving interesting. Sadly I have to report in my youth I did crash one of these into a lampost.

Got a little more done now, Done most of the fittings and started on the interior. I am undecided about the wheels, whether to fully model them or use a texture, Poly count is at 1800 so far and I expect it to be around 2200 so I cant go too nuts on the wheels. Ive got some funky polys on the bonnet by the lights I will sort them. Its also full of n-gons but I tend to get everything made before worrying about them.

Looks very great, about the wheels, I say keep them as they are and just use a texture.

Can i ask you a question?? the hood and the dorrs are separate meshes?? how did you do that "separating line" between the body of the car and them?

They are part of the same mesh, What I did was to use the cut tool to outline the door, then I used the chamfer to quickly give me a poly outline which I then extruded inwards. After that I welded the sunken vetices together to reduce the poly count a little. A bit long winded but I think it looks a lot better doing it this way than by using a bump map in this instance.

It will add quite a bit to the poly count it does depend on whether you think you can afford it, and you will add a few n-gons which can easily be sorted with the cut tool if you are fussy about them. Look forward to seeing the result.

Model itself looks nice, but it doesn't look like the Escort I had. Mine was a 1982, and it was a hatchback.

Did Ford design these differently in other parts of the world?

Its supposed to be the 1968 mk1 version, when I sort the wonkey polys out at the front it may be easier to tell. In my youth this was the car to have and was almost a right of passage to crash one, mine ended up around a lampost on a roundabout one frosty morning.

Got the interior done and have done a little optimising of the body shell down to 2264 polys. still havnt decided what to do with the wheels as yet. Finally sorted the wonky polys on the bonnet.

Decided to model the wheels as I think they would look a little nicer and the total poly count isnt too bad at 4881 I will probably find a load of useless poly as I sort the texture out so I dont think it will be to bad.

I also realised that I had hidden the wrong head lights from the render, no wonder you thought it was a mk2, sorry about that.

i would like to suggest that the front"metal pipes/bumpers" should be smooth grouper cuz in my oppinion they look kinda faceted...

Couple of UV issues to sort out and I have yet to do a bump map, but I think it is getting there. Might do a few skins for this one as well

It looks a little too clean and texture-less. But still looks great. Anyway, what are those four circles on the front?

Not happy with this texture gonna bin it and make something a little more modern I think I did want some thing retro but I think this one is a little too much.

Ahhh skidmarks, what a game, spent many a damp day playing that. Thank god I dont have it anymore or I would never get this model finished.

I'd say make the texture a little bit less bright and just add a lot of scratches and such.
Looks very good though.

I got sent away on buisseness to the other end of the country for a few days so I couldnt get much work done on the model. Since I have returned I have retextured the model, I think it looks much better now. still needs some work but I am much happier with it now.
