This is basically a modest tribute to my favorite game : the homeworld series.
I'm working on this game since a long time ago and my progression is really slow 'cause coding this kind of rts game takes a lot of time and concentration...
You have to lead your mothership and its fleet and interact with allies and ennemies .
Tipically, it's a 4x game (eXplore, eXpand, eXploit, and eXterminate) in space, but said like that it's sound restrictive.
I wrote a story and there will be some missions to achieve.
Ok, graphics are heavily improvable and my little homedemo still need debugging... But some routines like 3D camera, undocking and free movements works. Next steps will be 3D collision, docking and you know, learn the Mecchas to collect some ore...

I've just wanted to share some screenshots with you, just to say that coding a Space RTS game like Homeworld with darkbasic sounds possible.
Well, this is a still a ( slow) wip so patience is the master word ! I will send others screenshots later...

Darkbasic is great !

Fantastic work! Homeworld is one of my all time favorite games, despite the fact that I could never finish it. (I'm terrible at RTS games)

I'm looking forward to seeing more progress.

Thanks for your comments. Coding this kind of game is a real challenge for me 'cause I'm just a darkbasic ' hobbist and I give it a look only in my lost time...

Looks really good

What packages are you using to create your models and textures?

I'm using DOGA to create my models. I know it's basic but I want to concentrate myself on the gameplay part for now. I think it's essential. And finally, I don't need my game to compete with the Homeworld Reference
It will be a modest contribution but I want to realize it seriously.

DoGa is pretty good, really. Performance-wise, it wouldn't be bad to work through the final, exported models to remove unnecessary stuff.

Well, some news of my WIP. I'm working hard on the engine3d to obtain a softer and progressive behavior of all the ships fleet. My first attempts was average but I think the newer will be much closer than the Homeworld's series (Remember slowwerrr and smmooth.....)
@ tha_rami : yes Doga is quite good and easy and free ! . But my ships design must be improved. I will do it later. And yes exported models have to be "lighted" in polys... I will need some advices on the futur.

And another screenshot ...

Must say this looks interesting.

Sorry no video for now but as soon as all the gameplay will be coherent between commands and the 3d engine I will do it.
