my grandparents just asked me what i want for my birthday (its a bit late tho )

they said because it will be late their willing to get me anything for my computer work that i want!

so i was wondering what is the best 3D modeling program out there to get (i have experience at modeling) so any ideas?

i was thinking Maya or 3DS MAX

but please help me decide

Also sorry if this is against the rules or anythimg but i need to know and not make a bad decision (for me and my grandparents). thanks

Hello? He's getting whatever he wants, why offer him free stuff lol?

Although I'd normally recommend Blender, since you more-or-less can get whatever you want (lucky), I'd recommend Max. It's the industry standard, comes kitted out with tonnes of cool features, and plugin compatibility, and everyone I know of who owns it thinks it owns...

I would go personally with Maya. It's less expensive than 3D Studio Max, and a tad easier. 3D Studio Max is ultimately the best there is out there, but you might want to try the demos before you go spending thousands.

Does it matter? You're one of few people lucky enough to get Max, it honestly doesnt matter how new it is.

I have 9, and it's done me fine for a long time.

Congrats. We use Max 2009 at our school, it's good, but difficult. I just need to practice more.
