Ive made a model which has got quite a high poly count but i want to optimize polygons by putting them together does anyone know how to in blender.

You can't really just 'put together' polygons. In fact the only easy way to lower poly counts is the 'Decimate' modifier, and that's going to go you near-unusable results, as it totally screws up the geometry. Really you're just going to have to do it manually by deleting verts/polies.
