Hi. most of you prolly dont know me but that is because i just joined the forum. But here is a ww2 game screen shot from a game im working on. I'll post a demo when i'm done with it.

the screen is okay i think you should add some trees like the ones in rolfy's free tree pack just search his name or look at his posts and it'll really make it look 100 times better

1) Please post screenshots in .JPG.

2) It actually doesn't look too bad...some trees would definitely add to it. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the advice. I actually did add trees and there not in the picture. I will add more though. Also I put a bunch of hills in it. I'll release a demo in a week or so.

Whats jpg format? I dont know what all the computer formats are.

Jpg format is an image format. People prefer images to be in JPG format on the forum because it provides the option to view the file, instead of just download it. To get screenshots in JPG format, open the image file with Microsoft Paint (Start/All Programs/Accessories/Paint), then go to File/Save As and set the file type as "JPEG", name the file and add ".jpg" after the file name. Then save and you're done

the outdoors go nice and smooth for me. i dunno how to tell what my fps is. and no im not using a mod.
this also isnt going to be the first level. i'm going to make a training level.

I dont understand how you're basing a games creation simply on one specific weapon that you want in the game? doesnt really seem very necessary

Get some lighting going in that second pic and you'll be on to something I reckon. Just get a single light, slightly yellow in colour, give it a huge radius and place it as high up as you can, preferably off to one side of the map.

are you talking about the light that killed your fps? just set it up to be static not dynamic.

Statics produce shadows and are used 99% of the time. Dynamics are used for fires, switch-activated lights, etc. and are used 1% of the time.

Also, try altering the ambience too. You'll find that shadows outside don't look completely black, so raising the ambience will (in effect) make your shadows 'lighter'. In test game, use the < and > keys to alter the ambience.

scaled up the ww2 characters to be the height of the plr, got shg's ally script to work (kinda) and i'm using that. static lights did kill my fps (it switched between 1 and 0 with the lights when i have them on, when i have 15-32 fps with them gone) therefore i will not use lights for outdoor levels. i'll just up the ambience and use a bright skybox.
