Another question . Is there a way you can use one object to subtract another piece of an object.

Yes. In object mode, select both objects with Shift->RMB, press W and click Difference.

Thank you Venge, works perfectly. Also do you know how to change the view settings, so i can edit only what i see at my angle, so when i select things i don't select something on the other side of it if you get what i mean.

Just so you know, the boolean operations are also available as modifiers, which is useful because then you can create a boolean modifier, then change it in realtime if you want.

As for your question, hopefully you know where the buttons are which allow you to change between vertices/edges/faces. Next to those is a cube icon, which does what you want.
