I am not a fan of visual c++ 2008, is there a way to configure darkGDK to work with bloodshed's Dev C++?

i guess the same way you may configure any plugg in,
you need to add the path to the include and lib directory inside of dev c++ of dark gdk and directx sdk. but there is no warranty that may work because as far as i know, the files in the lib directory are only for vc++. to figure it out you need to give it a try, and tell us if it works, that might be interesting if it does.

I can't see why you would want to use Dev-C++, when Visual C++ is far superior. Is there any particular reason?

I don't think there is any way to use DarkGDK in Dev-C++.

I believe I once got DarkGDK working in Code::Blocks using the MSVC++ compiler

Cheers,

It can be done in Code::Blocks but with Dev-C++, it is completely impossible. Actually i have no idea why it wont work but it wont. End of story. and actually. I LOVE Dev-C++ so much but unfortunately.... yeah... But VC++ is far more advanced and makes use of all tools including releasing all your programs to the public which i must admit is easier in DevCpp. No DLL mess here and CFG there

Well, just include the directories and it works. I had to do this with Visual Studio 2008. You wont have the wizards and everything but just link your compiler to the "Include" and "Lib" directories of DarkGDK and DirectX AUG 2007.

I think Dev-C++ is awful, but that's just to answer your question.

I am working on a 2D Side Scrolling MMORPG, the journey is being blogged and I suggest you check it out. Will include all progress, road blocks even drama! http://exoengine.com/blog/

I was able to link it and it compiled, but at the bottom of the huge list of error messages, it said:

[General Error] Too many messages; abort.
There must be something terribly wrong with your code. Please fix it.

The includes and libraries got in, but I think they were the problem.

What does the variable 'c' represent in the equation 'E = MC^2'? Get it right, and I'll give you a cyber cookie.
