Well, I'm sure that you are going to have to convert it over to a readable format for normal 3D programs, then you will need to make it computable with FPS Creator. There are various tools spread throughout the forum for this. Try Bullshock's weapon creator program.

Gibba Gobba,

As a common user of the Source SDK's Hammer tools, I can assure you that with the correctly placed .mdl decompiler by Cannonfodder, you can decompile any Source model file. (You can use GCFScape to extract the content from Half-Life 2)

If all fails, there is a .mdl compiling suite with FragMotion, which has a 30 day free trial. So I suggest using that.

Once you've got the .smd files, you'll need to merge them in to one animation file (3DS Max is the best option for this, although quite hard on the average pocket), reposition the model, and export as .x using Pandasoft's exporter.

The you just need to set up the gunspec.txt to fit your crowbar.



Personally, It seems like more effort than it's worth for a home project, dontcha think?

You would probably be better to make your own crowbar model than go through all that hard work, then you could use it in commercial games as well if you ever wanted to

Fragmotion would work brilliantly. Extract the .mdl and convert the texture, then import straight into fragmotion.

Alternatively, I'd suggest downloading errants truncheon from the store - then replace it with a crowbar. If you ask nicely, he may let you release it in the store aswell.

He wont allow people to sell models with his hands.

Plus, if he uses the hl2 crowbar model then it'll be illegal to sell it anyway.

I don't mean sell, he has a truncheon in the store that uses his hands. I'm pretty sure the animations are similar. And besides, any man and his dog can create a crowbar mesh and texture.

I wish I had a half life crowbar... On the other hand, Bond1 released a hl zombie (without headcrab) a long time ago (I think)

And then removed it and never spoke of it again. It's still on FPS-Files, although it shouldnt be.
