Here you will find info vital to using music and sound effects in any type of application you're designing. I will add links for Copyright laws in Europe and other Countries as well.

A Quick note:
Copyright = ©
Sound/Recording copyright = ℗
Trade Mark = ™
Registered Trade Mark = ®

1) Copyrights expire after *50 years of the writer's death if it is not passed through his/hers will. So if done through a family tree, a copyright can continue.*

2) While expired copyrights may allow great songs to be used... do not reproduce a recording of a song without checking to see if the ℗ has expired.

3) Trade Marks are "The Sims 2™"

4) Registered Trade marks are "Maxis®"

USA: http://sunsite.berkeley.edu/Copyright/

Hope it helps people who need it

(* - This is purely for the USA as I haven't had to look into any changes in other countries... however they are all accumulated VIA Intellectual Property Laws or "IP" for short.)
