Hey,

Bloom In Unmodded FPSC Game Engine!!!

Quote: "Everyone wants that, right?"

Quote: "I wanted. "

This day I was working on bloom. I was thinking on how to make bloom.

And guess, I made it.
And it isn't as good as a mod or FPSC X10. But it is nice if you dont use mods, only FPSC Updates.

I will post a screen and a video. First I want to know what you think. And then I will improve it, and make a tutorial .PDF or .AVI, your choice. But because I want to use this as a unique thing for my Red Eye - The Game, I will keep it for limited time secret.

It works just like Bloom. It isn't a texture, as some of you may think. I will make a video and post it here.

Side-Effects:

- The screen below shows a very simple bloom on the ground. But withouth the bloom the framecount is 50 and with bloom it is around 40.

- Only dynamic walls and dynamic floors, dynamic lights and dynamic entity's and characters(duh), in a room (Not Whole Level).

- That is it for now. If there are any other side-effects, I will post it here too.

Hope, you like it!

I am also working on DOF. So, lots to come.

Bye,

Red Eye Productions

That looks more like light reflecting off of the surface. It does look very shiny, but not "bloomy".

It is a unmodded version of FPSC. I like that you comment, but can you say what I could change so it looks bloomy.

Quote: "and DOF"

how can you say that, if i never made DOF, nevermind

Not really

Aside from modding the source to include actual Bloom, there isn't much you can do. Making a reflective/shiny surface is good enough for most people around here to go "OHHHH!!! BLOOOOOOM!!!" though, so I think you're good where you're at

@Dark Goblin:

efx had Bloom working a long time ago, this isn't news. And this thread is about Bloom, not Dynamic Shadowing... made by Red Eye... in an unmodded FPSC. Please stay on topic

I like your bloom Red Eye, and I love the fact that you did it with the stock engine.
Well done.

Looks like you could easily change this a bit to get a sunspot effect, like when pointing old camera lenses past the sun.
Nowadays, everyone uses digital cameras that can get damaged if you point them at the sun, so that effect is not seen much anymore.
I would love to get such an effect for my Machinima project that will be using the stock FPSC for its engine.
So, keep us informed on the progress of your bloom and the chances of its public release.

It is more than that but ok... i mean maybe it looks not that good, but it actually also reacts on the players view

Here is another shot:

Yes, this is normally referred to as "Cube Mapping", which will overlay a reflective looking texture onto the object and as the view on the object changes, that texture is distorted/scrolled to give it a reflective appearance.

Bumpcubereflectalpha isn't that shiny, it looks bad IMO. It hurts my eyes...

IRL, "bloom" is subtle, and barely noticed, overdone bloom hurts, realistic bloom doesn't...

It is still work in progress but look there up in the air, it is definetly not like it, but just to show a problem and that i am experimenting with your idea:

I used the same pure brown texture.

THE LAST PIC FOR TODAY GUYS.
