I've tried to run a few programs (2D, sprites only) I made in DarkBASIC Pro on six computers:

1.8ghz Pentium 4, XP, 64mb graphics
900mhz Pentium 4, XP, 64mb graphics
700mhz Pentium 3, 98, 32mb graphics
600mhz Pentium 3, 98, 32mb graphics
650mhz Pentium 3, 98, 64mb graphics
200mhz Pentium 1, 95, 16mb graphics

...and the ONLY one they run on is the first!

I've tried this with all sorts of display settings, color modes, resolutions, and NOTHING made in DBPro will work on anything except the first computer on that list (which is also the one I programmed the games in). Several friends have also tried these games on their computers, and they won't work on any of them!

The error messages that come up include:

Can't load DLL (DBProBtimapDisplayCheck.dll)
Incorrect color setting
Couldn't load DLL (DBPROSETUP.DLL)

...and more! The message is different on every computer!

...please help.

Are you using Sprites that havend height/width with powers of 2 like 128x128 and so on?

ScreenDepth is 16bit i think since you tested several things

did you use fullscreen? most old cards don't support windowed DX.

if you ziped and sent these files and its a 2d game then there are a few bugs.
i sent this to rich or lee i cant remeber ages ago when the retro game was on. if you zip the exe's and they have attached media it gets buggered up

Quote: "95 laptop and direct x 9.0 "

There is no direct x 9.0 for windows 95 that could be a problem there.
8.1 s the last dx for win 95 so all new DBPro games after patch 5, won't run on win 95 of older systmes.

sparky, how about a link to the program, and let us all try it and see what happends. If people here have a problem with it then somethings up for sure.

Mostly, I used Fullscreen 640 x 480 with whatever DBPro uses as the default depth, attached and non-compressed media, sprites with sizes with multiples of ten (40x80, 20x100, etc.)... how do I check to see what verison of DirectX a computer has?

Sorry, CTP, didn't see your post before I posted.

I can't get the program now, because I'm not near a computer or a CD with the program on it. However, I will be by Tuesday morning (US Eastern Standard), so I'll post it then. Thanks for the help!

best way to make sure you are up to date is to install direct x 9.0
that way watev happens you know youve got the most up to date verision
(if the setup program gives you the option of modifying the chances are you have it on already ) but its worth reinstalling

@close to perfect
soz i meant 8.1...its late

To find out what what version you have run "DxDiag", I have a link to it in my C:\Program Files\DirectX\Setup folder, but you can also enter it in "start button", "run" feature, just enter dxdiag, it will give all kinds of info about the system.
