It seems that to get a program to auto configure its access to the interent with norton, you have to have the following.
1 Autoconfiguration Data
2 Known company
3 Valid Digital signiture

2 counts me out but if you set it to Microsoft Corporation then it recognises it thats 1/3

what is number 1 and 3 about and how can you make them.

It seems if all of those exist then you have an application that gets past a firewall by autoconfiguring and not asking any questions.

actually
you dont have to have all 3 of them
aol only has the first 2
so 2/3 aint bad
so just need the first one

What should happen is that Norton displays a big window asking if the program/dll/sub-process wants to access the internet, whereby you select Yes or No.

If this doesn't come up then the rule has already been setup - and it either automatically allows or disallows the program. If its the latter, then you need to wade through the rules list, find out which one it is and either remove it or change it.

yeah i know that
but i dont want it to even ask.

1 Autoconfig data
2 Well known company
3 Disital signature

If a program doesnt have any of those, when it wants to do anything like access the net, It will ask first and the sugestion (the default option selected unless you change it is BLOCK

If your program is by a well known company i.e. microsoft but doesnt have a digital signature or autoconfig data, It will still ask before accessing the net, but the default option this time will be to permit rather than block.

If your program has Autoconfiguration data and is by a known company then Norton firewall will allow it to access the internet, before it needs to and it will not ask you if you want to block its access.

Im not sure what the digital signature is for.

So basically i need to know how to create autoconfiguration data
There, slighty better explained

The only way your going to get a digital signature is to pay someone (I've forgotten who now), to verify the software.
The message is something you'll have to put up with, if your not going to modify your firewall.

You are giving me the impression with the types of posts you are making that you are create hacking/spyware/hackware programs...somtimes i just dont think anyone is thinking aroung here...you cant hack with DBPro effectivly enough...well, for being stealthy that is, and well TerraByte you wouldnt ask questions about hacking programming in a apublic forum...besides, what computer worth hacking would download somthing made in DBPro, cause you need a client unless you plan on using th TCP UDP packet to attack the open ports used by other applications on the systems IE file sharing, IM programs...

So to answer your question you will have to get the program to auto-execute(you have already asked how) then you will need to have the program(offline, autamtically) check for the type of firewall and then open the list of programs allowed to communicate then it will have to add itself...but this will settoff the Virus alert and spyware detector(as most come in suites now a days...so its much more comlex because not only do you need to ask the registry and have all of the different firewalls pre-configured to let you out...then you need to open to write the list of files available...but this still wont work cause as soon as you tip someone on this board about it then they will tell norton that DBPro porgrams have to be asked all the time...and then you wont be able to make this work...plus the fact you dont wanna buy all the firewalls viable to modern computing and set it up so yoiu reconfigure them...or just delete them...

@eddie gordo

So sorry if you are under that impression but i have several projects at the moment
One is a multiplayer game (which koshi will vouch for), Rather than pissing abomut on msn handing out ip adress i have found a way to get round this. Simply get the computer that will host to find outs its ip adress. put it in a text document. then upload it to my ftp site. and then the other players connect to my site with ftp download the document and the game reads the ip and connects to the server. This is a very quick way to setup a multiplayer game. I peronaly find getting sombody who wants to play a game to find out their ip. and thell them how to enter it and getting across the idea that you cant use control and paste to put the ip in a very time consuming excersize (rather like what im doing typing this out). So rather than piss about with ip adresses. im useing ftp to do it. I have tried this software and instead of a 15 minute job. The fastest game i have got up and runing (game well....chat program) was done using a 56k and from the moment the server a executed the game was running in 20 seconds. My friend that was testing my program said if the firewall didnt complain every time it would be easier. That is why i am tryingt o get round a firewall. Unfortunatly If if the client doesnt click permit in under 3 seconds the client will not find the server and the program has to be restarted which if it wasnt for this new ip method would mean anothe 15 minutes fafing around with ip adresses. I found out that if the software if by a well known company i.e. pretend its wrtten by Microsft Corporation . That you can set the defauly to be permit which makes it slightly easier to check a box and click ok. since then i havnt had to run the program twice. Idealy i would like the firewall not to be triggered at all. but if this isnt possible. or it will cost money to register or somthing then sod it. After doing this game thing, and fixing an ip problem i thought as i was bored i would try and write a chat routine. I have written one in vb6. But originaly i wanted to do one in dark basic pro as it is easier to triger sounds. You'll notice that msn starts up when your computer starts i wanteed to see if i could do this aswell.
Now i feel like raven after having written an amzingly long story and wasted abuot 15 minutes i dont want to do this again so i would realy apreciate it if you would not jump to conclusions so quickly. If i wanted to create a virus or trojen or anything, I would write it in a little batch file in qbasic. But im not that sad or bored.

SO in short

Eddie Gordo, Piss off and leave me alone unless you have somthing positive or valuble to contribute.

Everyone in this forum especially ian m ,mr toad and rob k have helped me in my project...and then there is just you who wants to make me look bad.
oh and by the way
there isnt a mesage box command.
you have to use ravens box thingy or make the example dll.

To everyone whos helped me

and just for eddi

there look
i wrote a little post just for you

Lol, if you wanna get around the firewall it legitamatly sounds like a hack...i am not being mean...man, i tried the FTP thing before to, works very well by the way, did u figure it out on your own cause that takes some heavy mental thought to come up with that...but anyways, sorry if you got the wrong impression it just looks like you are making spyware with DBPro...i just wanted you to know if you didnt wanna look like that...as for i am not thinking? huh i am lost about that...so anyways i am sorry if i sounded mean...it looked like spyware...i dont like spyware...and as for that long paragraph i am still reading it...yeah, ok i already thought the FTP thing up...it does work well you dont have to explain it to me i wrote a tutorial on it a while back...

Ok, my most formal apology TerraByte...no jumping to conclusioon i just thought it sounded like spyware...so yeah you could have that problem, i bet you could just tell the firewall to let it communicate however it wanted...cause i see that norton will let you...

And as for making you look bad...i have seen some post recently about viruses and such...so well as for the message box command there is one built into DBPro and i dont know what it is but it and OK box with 1 line of words...its there i swear...man u are uptight...so anyways...

Ok, good for you...hope u relax this isnt a formal forum here...we like to joke around...get grip on informality...maybe then you will see my tone as it was meant to be read...i am sorry you dont understand me...but hey noone does...and well...

DONT MESS WITH ME...U DONT WANNA CROSS THAT LINE...I AM NICE TO PEOPLE 99% OF THE TIME...I JUST WANNA WORN YOU I DONT LIKE ENEMIES...THATS WHY I TEND TO LOSE RESPECT FOR PEOPLE THEN GAIN IT BACK BY LEARNIG FROM THEM...
