Hi,

Does anyone know where can I get (either free or commercial) 3rd party DLL for collision detection? I create world in a .X file, and I need a collision detection that works on this .X for my third person shooter. The DBpro collision detection doesn't work for me as it uses bounding sphere/box and it is kinda inaccurate for my case.

Yes, I know I can convert it into BSP, but I can't. I need to apply different FX (using the FX system) like bump map on the world. BSP doesn't support this (or does it?).

Thanks for any help! I really appreciate that.

This may not be what you're looking for but check out

http://www.bansheestudios.com

And the subsection

http://www.bansheestudios.com/pResourceInfo.htm

Contains resources for implementing collision detection for FPS based games that may be what you're after. It's not a DLL as such but it certainly warrent's a look.

i believe if you wanted a third party collision detection for DarkBasicPro it would be required to conform to the SDK so you may have to download and open source collision detection DLL and rewrite it to work for DBPro, of course if you have lots of time you could write your own using the mesh memblocks...

The one by NuclearGlory looks like kinda promising, and I believe it does!

Hmm.... jz curious about the math behind it. Mind share me the tricks behind the scene? Maybe jz a quick blurb on that?

Thanks!

Hmm... I tested out that DLL for my .X model, but it doesn't work. My game exited automatically when passed the mesh pointer to the DLL.

What are the basic requirement of the .X model to use in this .DLL? Any special guidelines or rules I need to follow?

Anyway, I am using DBpro, and I am wondering whether this DLL works with DBpro?

Thank!
