4 inks and a set text size gets 38 FPS
without them I get 388 FPS

the backdrop is on and if I print text without changing the colors the speed is unharmed.(about 30 words at a time)

Is this generally excepted as a slow feature?
Is there a way to speed things up?
Is there any news of speeding this command up in the future?

I am using ink rgb(255,0,0),rgb(0,0,0)

I was wondering, "What was slowing things down so much?"

pre calc the text as an image onto a 3d plain.

I believe it's only the set text size that is slow. You can use different ink colors with very little speed loss. Set Text Size kills it.

yup, set text size is the bugbear, set it once outside the loop or make some huge letters as sprites and then scale em down to the required size, then you just need a simple routine to "print" them.

RGB will slow things down too - albeit marginally.

If you are trying to squeeze that last bit of speed out of your program, Ink RGB(255,0,0),0 is a tiny bit faster...
