Hi i know a lot of people out there create their own custom entities and i am trying (in vain) to to the same, as a result ive got myself milkshape and have got to work creating and animating models, so far im working on a barrell dude the only problem im having so far is in

A) getting the animations to play when he's in fpsc and
B) creating a texture map for him

with regarsd to B) i cant seem to find any documentation on this, ive searched and found people offering to map textures for free but that doesnt help me do it by myself

i notice all the entities in fpsc have a tga or dds file containing the texture details for the model and some of them look quite strange! is there any way a n00b to modelling like me can do that? how do you guys do it?

Im at my wits end with google which just isnt helping?
one of the threads i tried suggest wings3d but i cant work that one out o.0

am i just dumb?

For the first one you gonna have to make your own fpi file

For the texture map, you can use milshape's built in uv mapper or you can use lithunwrap:

http://www.sharecg.com/v/5169/software-and-tools/LithUnwrap---Free-UV-Mapper-for-Windows

or uv mapper classic

http://www.uvmapper.com/downloads.html

and here are some tutorials:

http://www.psionic3d.co.uk/page.php?3

you can also use blacksmith freeware 3d paint. only the 3d paint thingy is freeware but it works. It means you just paint directly on the 3d model then just export the model and the texture and you are done, it will uv map it for you.

http://www.blacksmith3d.com/downloads.htm

you can also use 3d modeler and 3d painter:

http://www.ppmodeler.com/download.php

Those are only some options. Get some tutorials, practice and more practice.

There is no specific way to do this modeling, animation thingy, just get tutorials, be patient, everything takes time to learn.
