here is my first Blender model! it took me about an hour and a half and it's not very good but hey Blender is hard! So I hope you all like it! It's not textured but if anyone wants it I'll be happy to release it just post here and tell me which format.

I tried to make it low poly but then it looked bad so it's 247 verticals now and I don't know if that is good or not.

ENJOY!

it is the faces that is important, not verts well, 299 faces isnt bad at all thats gr8, and for a first gun? well job! even though i think the model looks a bit messy but, for a first gun it is good =)

Nice! I suggest to make the handle/grip shorter because of the added ridges at the bottom

Looks good so far but it is very square looking i would try and smooth it a bit more if not done already will help the overall feel of the model.

Smoothing is not a cure all, and it doesn't always (actually very rarely), makes a model look better. And in the instances it actually would help the model look better, it's done wrong.

I think your very close to the texturing stage, if not already there.

One last thing, maybe it's just the picture, but it looks like you have a stray vert somehow. Zoom in on your latest picture, and look at the back end of your model that is displaying the pink verts. You can see one floating there. Might just be the pic though.

It's not a vertical I think that all it is is showing where the center of the original cube was before i extruded it? I don't really know but thats the only thing that might make since.

EDIT:
Ok I have officially decided that I SUCK! at texturing. I can UV map fine but when it comes to actually making a texture then I suck!!!!

Go to cgtextures.com and grab a few free textures. Then use your favorite art program to paint the texture on via a healing brush, or clone stamp tool of some sort. Works like a charm for me.
