3 Dimensional Chat / best maya for .x export support

I want to use maya to create animated models for a game im working on, currently have maya 2009 and 2008, however I'm having problems exporting to a .x format. Is there a version of maya that has good plugins to support .x? Also I have managed to use deep exploration to convert a file to .x from maya and have played the animation in dark basic but when I close the game the "windows has encountered an unexpected error, send info to microsoft?" pop-up box thing appears, any ideas why this is?

I personally don't see how people could even afford to use maya, unless it was the ple or school given version. And the PLE edition like Gmax only saves to one format, its own.

But anyway, if I remember right most people who do use 3d max and maya programs I'm pretty sure use the PANDA exporter for max and maya. I think it is a plugin or external exporter, not really sure though.

have you tried using lith or ultimate unwrap?
