Sorry if this is the wrong forum to ask this, but since it is regarding 3d object I thought I'd post here. Moderators feel free to move this to the proper place.

A dx9 .x file can only have 8 diferent texture layers. My question is this: Does this imply that it can only have 8 sets of uv coordinates? Or can I have more then 8 uv sets so I can use them with a shader?

I really dont understand your question.
But I would suggest that you put all UV coordinates in the same UV Map, this way you would also be able to use shaders and shadermaps more easy.

I hope it helped in some way.
